New website targets Starbucks card collectors

I asked the man behind STARBUCKSCARDS.COM why he started the site. Christopher Higgs explained: "I've been a huge Starbucks fan for about 4 years and always enjoyed picking up a new Starbucks card when they appeared in my local stores (Toronto). I've only recently started collecting the cards formally through eBay auctions, etc. and currently only have about 20 different cards, but will be expanding that over time.

"When I first started collecting, I searched for a checklist that I could rate my collection against. I'd love to know every card issued in each country, the date the cards were issued, retired, local "special" cards, etc. I couldn't find such a list so I created this site to try to establish a resource base for myself and other collectors. I'm not in this to sell cards, etc., so I don't see this site becoming a commerce site. I'm going to post front/back pictures of all my cards as well as the special holders that Starbucks issued to go with some of them. My hope is that when others start collecting these cards, they will be able to use this site. I'd like to build as complete a "checklist" as quickly as possible (with sample pictures) so that others can use this information as a resource." (Visit StarbucksCards.com.)

Many thanks to all who checked out my site over the past few weeks. To the vast majority of you who saw only my initial introduction page, I wanted to let you know that I have completed the overall look and feel of the site and started to add content on a regular basis. I have recently added a history of the Starbucks card section as well as an initial checklist of all Starbucks cards available to the general public. This is my first website so I would really appreciate any feedback you have regarding the look and feel or the current content.

Thanks in advance,

Chris

I am interested in a 2001 and a 2002 shareholders card. Does anyone have one for sale and if so how much?

Many thanks,

Dave

There are no shareholder cards for 2001,2002.

If you want to look at a website that has been on air for a few years nowe they have a great list of ALL of the Cards ever issued by Starbucks. check them out at www.buckscards.com

I alsdo have Germany Australia,Taiwan and Japan Cards and ones from Greece.

I am only interested in serious enquiries fo rthe whole collection and not to be broken up.

Hi Corey
I am interested in your collection. Please contact me by email. Thank you, Anna

I am just starting to collect these cards. Here is what I don't understand: From going on ebay and watching for cards that are being sold, there is a big value placed on cards that have never been loaded or swiped. Does it ruin the value if the cards have been swiped?

Is there a real check list of all cards issued which would list the id mumber in addition to any other information needed to identify where the card is from. There are some beautiful lists with pictures but that does not tell, for instance, which big red chair is from what country or area.

I am not a collector however I have a rare card that I would like to get rid of.

The card features the Flamingos from the San Diego Zoo. The art work is by Gloria Chadwick. If anyone is interested plz contact me by e-mail Nricci1@yahoo.com.
Thank You,
Nikki

Hello, I am very interested in learning about all the different Starbucks gift cards, and trading some of my doubles for cards I need. The link to the site seems to not work anymore. Is there another site set up somewhere for identification and trading of gift cards? Thanks!

Ah! I went to England's Starbuck site and see that they do now have cards.

Alana

I have over 40 cards. I am looking for more, to expand my collection. I have been collecting since I started working for the company in '02, and I'm looking to trade my doubles, even triples.

STARBUCKSCARDS.COM was relocated to BUCKSCARDS.COM due to legal reasons I believe... It is by far the nicest Starbucks collector site out there.

Do you know how many different Starbucks cards have been made?

I have many cards and would be interested in selling them. Are yu interested?
Mary

Wow, the question regarding how many Starbucks cards there are, is a difficult question to answer.

My answer at first would be, "It Depends"... It depends on what you collect. If you just collect the pictures, then the answer is simple.

As of June 30, 2007, I believe there have been 98 different designs that have been made by Starbucks.

However, if you collect each design from each country it was released in, then that number goes up substantially.

And likewise, if you also collect each of the separate releases of a card (i.e. the different card ID numbers) then again, it goes up.

So, as I said before, it all depends on what exactly you collect.

Hi,

This is a great site. I have been collecting Starbucks cards for a few years now. I started my collection while living in Canada. I am now in Hong Kong and they are having some nice cards. I also travel to Thailand and Japan and have cards as well. I am looking for trades with other collectors in other countries. Please feel free to email me.

Hey collectors, I have an "aspire" gift card that I am willing to sell. Contact me if interested.

I would love to trade with people.
I work at Starbucks in O'Fallon, Illinois and have just recently begun collecting. I have about 16 different cards and TONS of repeats. Everyone I work with puts the giftcards we get in my little cubby, so I have TONS.

A silly question: Do you have to purchase a gift card at a Starbucks retailer or do they distribute them for free? I'm just starting to collect (my mom gave me a card for Christmas with $20 on it) and I'm wondering how to get started. Thanks for the info! Mike

Maybe you'll even finagle a trade with the great "Chris and Ketzra"! ;)

I had no idea that this card would be worth something until I went to use it at my Starbucks. The clerk went bonkers and wanted to buy it from me! I decided I'd look into it first. It's the "Aspire" one and I have the sleve too, in perfect condition. Anyone know what it's worth right now?
Becky

I have been trying to find the site starbuckscards.com but it said that it is no longer available. Has the name changed or has it moved to another site?? I'd like a resource that tells me what cards are hot-- how to buy and sell them and what the best way to get them would be. thanks
kathleen

am looking for australian "gingerbread men" can anyone help, let me know what you want from u.k in trade

I have just seen an english collection for sale on ebay the seller of the collection says that the Big Ben card that he has was only issued in London for the record this is not true as I live in the city of Leeds and the Starbucks cafes had dozens of them at all of their outlets so to all collectors I would like to say dont pay big money for the cards as they are more common than people are saying.
