Starbucks fires co-founder of union claiming to represent workers at six NYC stores
Daniel Gross, a barista and organizer for IWW Starbucks Workers Union, is challenging his termination, which followed a company investigation into an allegation that he made a threatening remark to a district manager at a recent union rally. Gross refused to disclose how many members the Starbucks employees' union has, saying only that it's a "modest-sized group" with "positive membership growth. (Read the story at Seattlepi.com)
Um you insult one of the core values of equal treatment the company upholds by saying someone should be fired and then you scream union when they fire your butt instead.
What is the world coming to. If you told the dm to fire someone in any business you would end up in trouble... it probally has nothing to do with the union.

Sounds like a bunch of bull!@#$! He was probably fired for good reason and f!@# the union. This is ridiculous!

You ever wonder if these fucktards TRY to get fired so they can bitch about it and sue?
Posted by: Deusx | August 08, 2006 at 10:10 AM
it's not uncommon.
It's a great way to gain union support if you win.
however it's also just plain dirty. I mean this guy clearly states that he thought another employee should be fired behind that persons back!
I wouldn't trust him at all after that.

Why does it show (0) comments on the preceding page for this thread? Is it just me?

I can not believe he is 27 and only has a part time barista job.
What a lo.. (oh never mind).

Unions sucks....any barista/SS/ASM/SM that belongs to one deserves to be fired for letting the union assholes into our great company.
Posted by: | August 08, 2006 at 07:54 PM
Wow I'm totally against the union, but anon you sound like you were paid to come here and say that. ;)
Posted by: Deusx | August 09, 2006 at 08:41 AM
wow, so much koolaide talk here...what idiots this company has on this thread. I'm so glad that I'm not a patron nor an employee of this "church" anymore. bye-bye and good riddence.
Posted by: | August 09, 2006 at 12:47 PM
Lol "good riddance" yet you still come here to spout off about how happy you are being away from Starbucks.
Do you break up with girlfriends then stand outside their houses telling people how glad you are that you two are through as well?
Posted by: Deusx | August 09, 2006 at 02:28 PM
Hahaha! What an idiot this Deusx is, spending so much time criticizing people who don't agree with his business motto, "unions are for pussies." Dude, seriously, if you have a life you wouldn't be ranting about others as much as you do. If you claim to be a product of your own failures (not getting a college degree), how about hit the books more rather than getting on one-sided forums like this site.
Posted by: | August 09, 2006 at 04:12 PM
One more thing, me calling you an idiot is more legitimate than you calling others "fucktards." I'm surprise that your posts like that isn't taken down more (although I have initiated and successfully taken down some of your past posts). It just shows how much of an idiot you are if you have to put down people to make yourself feel better. Piss off!
Posted by: | August 09, 2006 at 04:16 PM
Haha What an idiot Deusx is for criticiz... oh yeah you just babbled thrice as much text of your own criticism about Deusx's hipocrisy ... oh and now I'm criticizing you!
Oh, you spiral of death!

I'm not being hypocritical in the least, I don't go to the wobblies website and sit there telling everyone how foolish they are. I have better things to do with my time than to spend it dealing with a group I have little respect for.
Anon on the other hand claims a large amount of disrespect for all things Starbucks, yet they spend what is obviously a fair amount of time at a website that is nothing but a Starbucks discussion. Anon doesn't like Starbucks, we get that, yet they can't bring themselves to move on.

Do I really need spell myself out?
SHUT UP. Be constructive.

...the irony of "SHUT UP.Be constructive" is staggering.

"Do you break up with girlfriends then stand outside their houses telling people how glad you are that you two are through as well?"
DEUSX-words can't express how much I enjoyed that comment of yours. I mean that with all sincerity. I especially love that it came at the expense of angry *little* anonymous poster.

wow, didn't know that howard schulz pays bloggers.
don't know about you, but i think "failure to report employee morale issues" is a bullshit reason to fire someone. especially considering they're firing someone who has openly taken a stand about "morale" issues concerning wages. sounds sketchy to me.

coffeeguy, i think the article said he told a manager a coworker should NOT be fired.
