It's been more than a year since Starbucks bought Clover, and the so-called "small-batch coffee" is available in just four cities? It's starting to look more and more like Starbucks bought the outfit just to keep Clover machines out of independent coffee shops. AND.... Starbucks said that by the end of 2008, stores in most major cities would be "iTunes'd up." Hasn't happened (at least here in Chicago), and it looks like it never will. Thus, please remove your logo, etc. from my iTunes storefront. WHAT ARE YOUR REQUESTS FOR STARBUCKS?
1) I don't know who isn't brewing ice decaf - we used to do it at my store in Boston, we do it now at my store in Westchester County NY (I just got off shift - we did 3 batches of decaf iced, due to demand today alone, by 2). I know of no directive to stop ice decaf, at least in Northeast.
2) Now, ice decaf is Decaf Pike, so make your own judgments. I don't drink it, but my decaf ice customers seem happy.
3) We also brew bold from morning until at least 6, and often later (I have a lady who comes in about an hour before closing and I make a fresh batch cause she likes that). We wouldn't think of not having it. I have hardcore regulars who hate Pike. I have hardcore regulars who drink nothing but Pike. Pike works for a certain set of customers (mainly middle aged women, I find). It's not going away. Live with it.
4) All of what I mention - decaf ice, bold brewing - is done all across my Area; I can't imagine my DM not wanting us to do it. Or anyone in my Region, knowing our RM.
5) I think we should bring back Valencia syrup. And Sugar free CBB. And nationalize the frap on demand they're testing in Florida.
6) I bet further rollout of iTunes is expensive, but yes, it should be done. Also a 1-800-Starbuc line dedicated to wifi connection problems. It's just not something for baristas to manage.
7) Fewer DMs... and I think some Managers could be stretched across two stores with the right supporting team of ASMs and Shifts.
