The customer was at a Seattle Starbucks when he ate the offending egg and sausage sandwich. Upon biting it, the lawsuit says, he "experienced both a pungent iron taste and pain from a back molar." He contends that a dentist later determined he had fractured his molar and damaged his jaw. Customer sues Starbucks (Seattle Times) | Rusty nail in sandwich alleged (Seattle P-I)
Oh dear. Now I'm a little afraid to continue ordering those sandwiches. :| I wonder if this case will ruin relations between the supplier and Starbucks food.
Is this what happened to the egg souffles? Is that why they stopped serving those?

What's an egg souffle?? You mean, egg florentine sandwiches?
Posted by: LEGENDARY OR BUST | May 01, 2009 at 12:59 PM
Panera Bread has/had the egg souffle. Do you mean there?

Just like the finger nail found in the McDonald's burger? Or the piece of finger found in the Wendy's chili?
Even if it isn't a hoax, this goes beyond Starbucks to the sandwich distributor. We receive the sandwiches pre-packaged. We don't make them ourselves. We take them out, pop them in the oven, and serve. I would hate to thing that anyone would have the capability to maliciously and intentionally try to injure someone in this manner.

Haven't tried the sandwiches in awhile... Sounds like they're still nailin' em!

Do we charge extra for rusty nails?

@LEGENDARY OR BUST:
Nope, not from Panera's. They were better. I used to get them from the local Starbucks in Gig Harbor, WA. But they were only available for less than a year--not sure why.

Darn, that previous comment was supposed to be a reply to "STARBUCKS GOSSIP WEBMASTER". Sorry!

West Coast Artist,
I think you are thinking of the quiches that Starbucks sold for a while. They weren't around for long.

Yeah! That's them! Me and word association, haha.

Wouldn't the nail have started a fire in the oven? It's part microwave.
Posted by: Sue Matra | May 01, 2009 at 09:02 PM

Posted by: BlackApron | May 01, 2009 at 10:04 PM

Posted by: pApI | May 01, 2009 at 10:26 PM
Are there nails on the top of the ovens???
Besides, even if it did fall down, it couldn't have burrowed its way into the sandwhich, pApI.

I find those plastic circle rings that are on the milk gallons(THAT CONNECT TO THE TOP COVER AFTER YOU OPEN THEM) all the time in milk krafts, thank goodness the customers don't open them up cause I've seen a bunch of junk that falls into those Kraft's..Eeeww
I always ask for seperate milk poured into a short cup, you don't know how long it's been sitting in the kraft and if anyone dropped the swine flu into it!!
Posted by: pApI | May 03, 2009 at 01:45 PM
Carafe...

"Kraft"? Really? Seriously?

PAPI
I found one of those circle milk cap rings in my drink once at a store probably 10 years ago. The funny thing was when I took my drink back to the barista, She told me there was NO Way that could possibly happen, and that I must have somehow dropped it in my cup on the way out the door. (because we all know those fit through the sip portion of the lid so easily, and that customers regularly carry those in their pockets) Another barista chimed in saying, "Yep, that's impossible that it happened back here, are you sure you didn't go home and drop it in your cup?" They didn't re-make my drink or offer service recovery. They just politely let me know that they had no fault in the situation and that I should be more careful with my drink. Didn't go back to a Starbucks until I became a partner over that one. It does make me extra careful when pouring milk in the steam pitchers though.

@ Expired Shot
They told you to be more careful with your drink, LOL!!
They needed to be EXTRA careful when making your drink obviously you were correct and they didn't want to get fired so they covered it up, what a bunch of morons, I'm sorry you had to have such a negative experience and then lied to, and those were the "Good Old Days" so just imagine what BS they would come up with these days to not take responsibility of their poor actions...I feel for you, thats such a cowardly move on their part...
They talk the talk but when you catch them on something like that all of a sudden they have no clue...like its your fault..Next time go with your instinct

But I can't wait to see the settlement this person is offered to settle out of court, oh my god $$$ there is no way the case will go to court, so get ready everyone we're going to be working a tad bit harder so we can cover this one up out of court, who wants to place bets??
