Melody, please know that Boston Starbucks Rebel is - as always - just trying to rouse rabbles. I've seen the video, and it's nothing more than an attempt to clarify the existing policy that empowers individual stores to know their business and brew to their customer needs. All the partners responding to the video on MSI seem to understand that, and yet the resident SG troll is grasping at very thin straws to try and cause an uproar.
One thing Cliff mentions is that many of our customers enjoy the consistency of having the same brew in every store, every day (paraphrasing), so I don't think we'll see PPR go away, but the emphasis really seems to be on "know your customers. Offer them what they want. Take initiative to set yourself and your store up for success."
Bold is NOT going away. Decaf is NOT going away. Don't give up the fight.

Yea Right who's going to make me brew it, yea no one!!

Changing the game---AGAIN.

I wanted to make this a new thread, but didn't know how.

I just got off the phone with my DM. We have been ordered to:
1. Eliminate the request off log.
2. Told that schedules will be permanent
3. If partners want time off it will be there problem to cover their shifts
4. That the average hours worked in each store must be 30.
5. More partners will be termed to increase the average hours worked - EVEN if they are working 20 hours per week - to make the goal.

This is a directive from the Eastern Division!

What about a great work environment? Well no more.

What about providing health insurance to part time employees?
No more - Even if you meet the 240 hours, if you stand in the way of profits, you're gone.

Starbucks as a top 100 company. Not much longer, we're going the way of Walmart, profits at the expense of our "employees".

Damn, This is Andrew and Jim's way of making sure anyone left, doesn't remember the good times.

I read back through some of these posts.... I was unceremoniously fired a few months ago. I was a SM, I had won MOQ, ran a busy store and had NEVER had a single write up in my file. Oh, and I had been with the company 8 YEARS. Think this isn't a plan from up above? Guess again: a week later another 8 year SM was fired in my district, followed two weeks later by a 10 year SM. Two weeks after that they fired a 13 YEAR SM!!!. Hard to believe but it is true. Thats nearly 30 years worth of experience down the drain....

This company has a very simple agenda, and its best you start to pay attention to it: If you make in the high 40s or heaven forbid over 50K - start looking elsewhere. They want to replace you with cheaper labor. Not to mention, they don't want the people here that remember the 'good old days', cuz they are not coming back. They want new people that think these are the GOOD DAYS.

Yeah, and that means you ASMs that have been hanging around waiting for a promotion can forget it. They are even hiring outside SS now up here.

It's out with the old, in with the knuckleheads. I'd say get out while you can, but don't: stick around and get unemployment when they fire you. Its pretty hard not to qualify with the BS reasons they are using to get rid of valuable old timers like me.

Howard...please go away.

and i agree, this isn't ageism, it is about tenure:

for the four managers that were fired here, even if they were replaced with newer managers with similar salaries ( unlikely, 3 of us made over 50K), they would still be saving 9 week of vacation a year they aren't paying to the new SMs.

That's a 10K savings right there in one year, and it will go for three years before they earn another year, so 30K. Think that isn't being looked at? Plus there is no way they bring people in anywhere near what we were making anyhow.

Remember, howard lost millions... he has to make it up somewhere.

knows better

i don't think its so much tofu... as much as it is starbucks culture is dead, the company has changed, and those who have been around awhile know what a beautiful company starbucks used to be... when they actually cared about their people.

the new "do it with less or we'll get someone who can" culture is whats weeds out the old partners who still try to keep a torch burning thats been drug under water by a very vicious siren...
