Back around Christmas Liam Neeson and Natasha Richardson came in with their kids. I was putting away the days order and assumed the partner up front would help them. They didn't. She (NR) got annoyed and asked if anyone would be helping them (it was about 30 seconds at most of waiting). I know she got a cappuccino, but that's all I remember. When they left my manager was all excited and no one else realized it.

To Alan RE: GLUTEN FREE... we carried the gluten free orange cake, but we threw out 10x's more than we sold, unfortunately it was just not good business to keep it on the shelf, why is it people only complain about something they rarely bought after it is gone??? there is no telling what the public wants, one day all the lunch sells , then the next day not a one comes close to a register, our manager is expected to not run out, but also not markout any extra, let me know when this crystal ball is available

NJ_Barista

Jayson Werth from the Philadelphia Phillies came into my store...I almost passed out. He ordered a Grande Americano and was friendly. He was with his wife and two kids.

In Gainesville the lead singer of Sister Hazel has come in a few times and we talked music, he's a really nice guy.

@ inopenflames: The Pumpkin Spice launches officially on September 1st. The Signature Hot Chocolate is being focused on again, but we never stopped serving that. Winter drinks will not be out until a phase or two later.

September is supposed to be about Signature Hot Chocolate, Pumpkin Spice Latte, Yukon, Anniversary, Sulawesi, Thanksgiving Blend, and preparing for the national launch of via, which we have not yet been told of the exact date for the release of. We are assuming it is right after September...

Lavenderwrites..

Apparently, Howard Schultz himself comes to my store on a irregular basis (which makes sense, we are right across the Lake from his Seattle neighborhood but I've just only transferred there a month ago so I have yet to meet him. I expect when I do, I'll pee my pants.

Other than that, Stacie Orrico (think More To Live pop song, about 4 years ago) used to come to my Kirkland, WA store. She was delightful and had a real nice presence to her, I didn't even know who she was until I read the name on the debit card.

Drinks a tall carmel frappuccino light carmel avagado style in the Summer and I overheard her explaining her drink choice to another customer in line, about how her grandma used to make her espresso over icecream (Italian roots) very cute!

spence

The famous trio of winter beverages will be available November 1st.
Pumpkin Spice lattes are a soft entrance and will be available anytime now but no later than Sept 1st. (We have to wait until it shows up on the POS before we can sell it.
I tried the Pumpkin Spice Muffins today. OMG. They are so wonderful. They taste just like they did last year.

SBUCKS DRONE LOS ANGELES

Martin Sheen (Father of Charlie Sheen) came into my old store in Alhambra, CA once, what a great guy. A couple of people recognized him, I recognized him right away. Treated him like just another customer and I could tell he really appreciated it. Ordered a Grande Caramel Frappuccino with no whip, paid with a $10 and threw the rest in the tip jar. He parked right in front of the store, couldn't tell what he was driving but it looked expensive.

BouncingBarista

We had Joe Torrey in our store on 4th of July because the Dodgers were playing the Padres, Ordered a Venti Non fat Chai...also I heard Dave Chappel was in our store...nobody can remember what he ordered though.

@mel2112 -- what store in gainesville are you at? i used to work at 13th and 16th and miss it...

Incidentally, at my old store in gainesville biographer Ellis Amburn was a regular. He wrote books on Buddy Holly, Jack Kerouac, Warren Betty, Janis Joplin etc. He was actually Kerouac's editor late in life. He was a really sweet guy, would always order decaf, nonfat lattes and probably doesn't count as a celebrity.

oh well, i'm a bit of a nerd so whatever.

BaristaDude

BaristaGirl

Irving, TX - Jordin Sparks

Wesport, CT - Christopher Walken - super awkward, hilarious, sweet and left $20 in the tip jar!!!!

Chad Michael Murray gets a peppermint white mocha or salted caramel signature hot chocolate. I've heard he's a jerk everywhere else he goes, but he's nice to us. Kenzie, his girlfriend/fiance/whatever is really sweet though.

Go Ducks

Hey, I saw some guy named Howard at Portland's Pioneer Courthouse Square Starbucks at 6:45 AM this morning. Looked like about 100 Portland store managers paying rapt attention to him, so I assume he qualifies here as a celebrity. And the free tall drip coffees this morning were a nice touch, too.

Nb Shifty

Jim Bruer (countless times) (grande cappuccino but we always chose that for him, he was too high to order most times
Matt Pinfield
Bill Cosby (i believe a doubleshort latte)
Ben Folds

Dan Lauria

New Brunswick, Nj

SBUX Customer

When Matthew Mcconaughey was in my town to film We are Marshall in Huntington, WV, I've read that he stopped in at Starbucks with his dog.

CamSpi

What happens when paparazzi is following celebs to Starbucks? I've seen a couple of videos of Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus pulling up to get a frappuccino. The paparazzi stayed outside... what happens if the paparazzi follows the celebs into the cafe? What would be the responsibility of the barista? To protect the celebrity? To call police? And what's that conversation like between the barista and the celeb being stalked? "How's your day goin'?"

milkwhiz

i work at a store in a suburb of chicago. 2 summers ago ted nugent came in and order a decaf tall mocha. the other partner i was working with said, "are you the 'nug'?" and he said, "the one and only!" very nice

Coffee Soldier

Jason Varitek and Terry Francona frequent a store in my area when the Red Sox are in season and in town.

SickOfIt

CamSpi:

If there is ever a incident like a huge celebrity at Sbux, the photographers are not allowed inside. If they start anything you lock the doors and call the cops.

Pretty much handle it like a invading troops. There is no professional photography inside stores without the ok of corporate/DMs.

drive

Bruce Willis came in once. This is in NYC. He was really nasty and arrogant, just like you hear he is.

finding a way

Jerry Stiller plays Georges father.

Do dead celebrities count? I think I saw Michael Jackson yesterday.

Nic

Kate Hudson came into my store in Rye Brook, NY and ordered 3 chai lattes. She tipped a dollar, was friendly, laughed at my jokes and refused a carrying tray, instead leaning all 3 drinks against her chest to carry them out.

TOS fan

He's been permanently "beamed up" now, but in the Park Place location (Kirkland, WA), I used to see James Doohan come in on the weekends. Cool guy - always had a smile for everyone - and we "locals" always respected his space (no pun intended), didn't ask for autographs, etc. Can't recall what he used to order, though.

bigredbarista

@inopethflames

inbetween: what store did you see Tom at? was it in Indy? My husband interned for Bob & Tom back in college and occasionally went to the 'Bux to get their drinks for them when they were all tied up.

I worked at a bux in a Target and so never saw anyone famous. :)

NOLA SM

Denzel Washington- just a bunch of cds. The register partner asked him if anybody ever tells him that he looks just like Denzel Washington. He replied, "Every day, even my mother".

Jennifer Coolidge (AKA Stifler's mom)- doppio nonfat macchiato. Very polite because she was once a barista.

John Goodman- came in occasionally for ground coffee. Very loud and tall! Asked if there was any wheat gluten in our coffee.

Jim Breuer- grande cappuccino. Nice enough but kind of smug.

Donna from "That 70's Show"- don't remember what she got. Total SNOB

ATL_barista

Jasmine Guy (Whitley from the show, A Different World) used to come in to one of my stores because she was in Atlanta doing a play: got a nonfat latte. Was a little arrogant at first, but the more she came in, the nicer she became.

Alec Baldwin- I think he got an Americano. Not pleasant, but not mean. Just, meh.

Dave Matthews when he was doing a concert at Piedmont Park in Atlanta.

Ludacris, he's from Atlanta.

I thought the most famous Boston Celtic was Larry Bird or Kevin McHale.

Seriously, I haven't heard of most of these people, and wouldn't recognize them. If I were a celebrity, that's the way I would want it too..

javafish

I work at a store in Harrisburg, PA. We see Jon and Kate Gosselin (sp?), from Jon and Kate Plus Eight all the time. Now we see more of Kate and the kids instead of Jon, as you can imagine. Totally rude, I might add.
