lameness

not really that insightful, mind blowing or even good journalism

baristamclane

^Ditto. It almost looks as if the author of that article read the first and last paragraph the the SBUX Wikipedia article...

"At close inspection, the Starbucks logo makes no sense. At closer inspection, it makes even less sense, plus you risk dipping your nose in frap foam."

It must be obvious day at camp stupid.

Beejers

Considering starbucks bought it's beans from peets when it first opened, and Alfred taught Jerry Baldwin and Jim Reynolds how to roast, I would say #10 is the other way around. Without peets there would be no bux. Conversely, without the bux, peets would not be what it is today... But it is commonly misreported that starbucks at one Point owned peets- jerry did acquire the company back when Sal buonavita sold it off, but he it was completely independent of sbux. While he held controlling interests in both companies, he ultimately ditched the bux to return to peets and then took it public. When Mr. Peet passed away in 2007, even Howard recognized starbucks wouldn't exist without peets. So the peets, I am you father quote is partially inaccurate.

Caffeine

I think any barista that works for Starbucks could list 10 much more interesting things than that article did. How about this...

Many people think that latte drinks with extra shots will give them an extra big caffeine kick. Wrong. A shot of espresso is only 75mg of caffeine. A triple-venti latte has less caffeine than a tall cup of coffee. You would have to drink a latte with almost SIX shots to come close to the caffeine in a venti coffee. A venti "black-eye" is about equal to 8 shots of espresso... like popping 3 No-Doze.

Re: List of 10 things ...This is the start of a Starbucks trivia game, with cards and board, ... oh it would be so fun! Probably I am the only one silly enough to want to play a Starbucks trivia board game. LOL. I'm game though. ;) Anyone else want to play Starbucks trivia with me?

me myself and I

Melody, I don't think this game would be fair. You probably know more about Starbucks than Uncle Howie himself.
;-)

P.S. Did anyone else notice he is not signing his letters with "onward" anymore? Or does he have a new ghost writer who just forgot to add it?

Darth Sidamo.

Okay Melody. Since I know you do not know the answer to the question, What is the correct proportion of French Roast to House Blend in Viennese Blend?

Check annnnd Mate.

Starbucks Secrets

OK, here's a doosy. The Pike Place market store (aka the Origninal Starbucks) is actually not the orignal. Technically the first store opened about 100 yads down the street, was damaged in a fire and then relocated to what is now the Pike Place store. So we would really need to call it a relocation of the orignal. Now you know.....

Starbucks Secrets

Yikes I should spell check before I hit post next time, my bad....

Starbucks Secrets

@ Darth Sidamo

That's a trick question there is no French Roast in Viennese Blend. (At least I hope you posed it as a trick question) The correct proportion is 80% Italian and 20% House

shift misto

This is a great thread, i hope it continues on!!

was Viennese previously offered as a bag?

Long Time Partner

Starbucks did indeed sell a paper version of Slate. It was a joint venture between Starbucks and Microsoft. Microsoft owned it, Starbucks sold it. This was before Joe magazine. 1996 or 97. It didn't last long, but it's a true story.

Doug

@Melody 75% House to 25% French Roast. Not a trick question.
