How do hourly employee bonuses work when they get wage capped? This is a question I've never been able to get a clear answer on.
I only have one more eligible raise before I get capped for my position, which is sad and frustrating to consider that I'll never be able to take home a bigger check than I already do without finding a different job.

Small "green" observation: re-usable sleeves. They've now put them in SB stores, another chain has made it a huge part of their non-bev inventory, but I have yet to walk in and be handed a sleeve-free drink anywhere, despite having my sleeve in hand and mentioning it. The cardboard always has to be tossed back.
Maybe start with that one small thing of what they're already promoting as "green" but not yet succeeding with, before expecting to tackle all the recycling options in a store.
Just a thought.

Dear howie, I know you have money now and well 3 partners in my store have holes in their shoes and cannot afford shirts long enough to cover their cracks. I feel like a bum panhandling via so u can pay for jet fuel.. Would it be too much to ask for a little barista bonus. I mean the bottom of the totem pole kinda sucks when 8 bux ish is the starting pay per hour..I mean how much do we sell a 12 pack of via for.. 9.95? If that's too much can we at least legalize Inbour dress code policy the use of duct tape for our cracks.. And our shoes?

We were able to get along with operation Lean for a little while but it's taking its toll now. It's seriously time for a spring cleaning. It's seriously time for some necessary repairs. It's seriously time to show some appreciation to long term partners. We are down to 2 long termers in my store and about to be reduced to one.

they are testing a bonus program in Canada... if you achieve 105% on your monthly targets and keep controllable contributions above 25% you get 70% bonus and if you have 62% or higher on cust voice for the last month of the period you get 30%...I cant remember all the complicated math they gave us for the bonus but because we had a shitty april we will not be getting the 70%...we can pray our sept cust voice is above 62% though...it kinda sucks because its over a 6 month period :( hopefully if they keep it they change it to be by the quarter.

Ernstwhile....yes...hourly partners who max out at your areas/regions pay rate in their positions are eligible for a bonus payout one time per every 6 months....but ONLY if you receve a CE on your review. The SM needs to notify the DM and it gets processed though with a EPAN to the PCC with a specific case # attached to the EPAN. The PCC somehow calculates what the increase would be by the amount of hours worked in the past 6 months so for example if the merit increase would have been .50cents per an hour X say 300 hours worked the partner receives a bonus included in their pay check for 150.00. It is a little tedious to do the run around for but in my opinion if you have a maxed out partner they have been their a while and def. worth the run around to be sure they get their bonus especially if they are a CE you do not want to lose them as a parter!
Hope this helps!

ie9? Should Microsoft just consider the browser and let Firefox and Chrome run the show, since they are doing much better job?

@javajunk. You lucky SOB. $7.30 is our starting wage here. The good news is that legally, we cannot take a pay cut.

Dear Howard,
The recession is over, didn't you know? Apparently, it ended last summer! Since we "weathered the storm," I think it's past time to reward all of your hard-working partners who put up with your crap for 18 long, lean months...
Love,
baristamclane
P.S.--Can we have our clean sweeps back? I see some tile grout in the cafe that could really use some loving.

I love all of these letters to Howard. In the last 3 weeks our ice machine, air conditioning, water filter and 1 POS broke. Please send us new equipment, and yes, our clean sweeps would be amazing.

It's a shame that the necessary things like equipment maintenance and store cleaning have been thrown out the window to boost the bottom line. Two stores I've been to in the last week have been dealing with broken blenders, and those babies are less than half a year old since they were installed with the frappuccino rollout. I asked a barista what was up and she said, "Oh yeah, they keep breaking on us. This is like our third one."
It's disheartening to know upkeep may not be a core standard anymore.

@Ernstwhile... It all really depends on your SM and DM; once you get to that cap, like coffe soldier said its the company policy to do the bonus thing, however I reached that cap about two years ago and I'm still getting the usual raise every six months, just got it last week actually, so really talk to your SM and see what happens ;)

JMan you are lucky, and it's very possible your pay leven can be set back to the maximum when it is realized by someone who cares that you are over the cap.

Hmm... well that's interesting, considering that while I was a store manager (and never dealt with someone who was wage capped, so pardon my ignorance), I was constantly coached that it's highly unlikely that any partner would ever qualify as CE. I think the wording used was "There's always room for improvement, and if your expectation is that people always improve..."
I guess we'll see how it goes once that bridge is crossed.

@latteteadah: A customer has posted a review of the new stainless-steel venti tumbler at the online store, claiming Starbucks will not fill it (and thereby negating its environmental friendliness). How can this be the case? I snatched up a venti hot logo mug (and an iced logo mug!) when they first came out and use it just about every day, at home or otherwise. I've never had a problem getting it filled with whatever I like (usually a misto or a London Fog). Have you?
I had no idea venti tumblers were so rare, although I do get baristas who suspect/argue that mine must only hold 16 ounces despite my having ordered a venti beverage. The thing is seriously huge, though. I've seen smaller nightsticks.

Might you might have good enough happiness for making you sweet, an adequate amount of trials to produce you robust, plenty of sorrow to continue to keep you human, plenty hope for making you glad.

Ummmm... last I checked, all hourly partners are getting bonuses next month since the company did so well. Stop complaining, especially if you don't even WORK THERE! I know I'm excited!
