I travel in California. Got to spend a day off in Oakhurst Starbucks (40208 Hwy 41 Oakhurst, CA 93644),a little town, while volunteering in a meditation center near by, in an even smaller town.

The day I arrived they had a staff meeting here at night to decorate the coffee shop for Christmas. Thy let me stay and use the Wifi while all shifts employees are decorating around me.

The next day when I came in the shift manager greeted and remembered me and offered a sample of the Christmas spiced coffee. We chatted over the coffee and she showed me around while we take apart and learn the Christmas patented cups and thermoses.

I sat and worked and then asked for a cup of hot water to pour in my minute made soup I brought with me, she happily helped while suggesting a big ceramic mug rather then a paper one. and gave me a spoon too.

Later the other shift manager came by and apologized that I had to bear the hectic decoration evening the day before and gave me a free voucher for any drink I choose !

I remained speechless. The feeling was so personal for a chain shop that I wondered whether they thought was a restaurant inspector / a Starbucks undercover mystery shopper :)

Never expected to find such a family like group of corporate employees ad such a compassionate and warm service.

Thank you for making my day off !

I tasted the Christmas Via. It's the best Via I've had. It's the best instant coffee I've ever had. It was totally drinkable. This is a coffee that can rock the instant coffee world.

Let's see if I got this straight - customers in Midland, Dubuque, and Nashville are subsidizing little something extras for customers in Chicago, New York and Los Angeles. Sounds like Starbucks jumped right up on President Obama's income transfer wagon.

Hi. Hope it's okay that this is completely off-topic, but...:

I would like to get a holiday gift for the baristas at my daily Sbux location; there are 6 that help me regularly, and they are all wonderful. I've seen some suggestions re. baked goods, but I wondered how long they'd last and if all baristas would have a chance to notice/partake.

What about a gift box of chocolate, i.e. Lindt, Godiva, etc.? To the baristas out there- would you appreciate that? Any other ideas (that don't involve crafting, please- I'm hopeless!) based on personal taste, experience?

Thanks!

I had a customer yell at me and call me a poor girl and demand that she get her 'coupon' because i took too long making her drink and she got a ticket because she was double parked. Thank you Uncle Howie for making us work 1 drink @ a time. Dont forget to rinse every pitcher after each use, even though the sink is 10 feet away. oh HI DM....'whats that?' 'yah i dont mind as you stand at the hand off plane and watch me like a hawk to make sure Im doing it right, even though we are short staffed and lined up like crazy' 'yes sir we will bus and then sample, let me just ask my only barista on cash''HOLD the line please, we will not be serving customers for the next 5 mins due to bussing and sampling''dont worry if you like to deap throat, we will shove some more VIA down your throat'.

Joke of a company.

SM, it's actually *2* drinks at a time. And you're rinsing multiple pitchers at a time; I hope "after each use" isn't something new, that's been a standard for quite some time.

Also, I don't know what effect being busy and "short staffed" would have on your ability to follow BR2 correctly. Ironically, those are the conditions for which BR2 was developed and works best. Why be worried about "doing it correctly" when you are the one who should have taught it in the first place.

Before you point fingers at a misperceived comedy of errors, make sure you know who the punchline really is...it may just be you.
