PLUS, a note from Starbucks Gossip reader:
Just purchased a grande latte and an oatmeal at Starbucks this morning for the devilish price of $6.66. The barista wouldn't even read the total aloud. But she did say that the Number of the Beast is a fairly common total she rings up.
Is that true?
I don't know about anybody else, but I'm DEFINITELY getting the tea sampler set today! :)

1/2 price Christmas Blend went over really well, sold 75 before 10am. Sold all our boxes of Bliss bars before 8am.Most were pre-sold.

I always end up ringing $9.11 at my store.
As for the 12 Days promo. my store's kind of dropped the ball and is only displaying because my DM found out that our SM didn't start the promotion on time. We sold a few bliss bars as well as the Christmas VIA.

Does anyone know what the deal is with the tumbler on the 12th? Are the quantities going to stores going to be pretty limited?
Posted by: John Deese | December 10, 2011 at 10:33 AM
I wish the tea sampler was more enticing this year.

When was CB 1/2 off this year?
Posted by: Jeff Tom | December 10, 2011 at 01:37 PM
Do we not get the partner discount on top of 12 Days of Gifting Special?
Posted by: Petie | December 10, 2011 at 01:46 PM
We don't Petie.
To be honest it seems so far all the items have been a pretty big hit, for the most part. Even the tea sampler, today, I was pretty sure we wouldn't sell many and when I left we had sold almost all of them.

Auto shipments of the refill tumbler were fairly small based upon how high I think the demand will be... If the store manager was smart, they requested more weeks ago. If the store manager just realized we are having a 12 days promotion, then good luck.

we sold 140lbs of christmas blend, 78 twelve packs of via, 38 packs of whoopie pies, 32 packs of cranberry bliss, 25 coffee samplers, among others. people like the excitement of a good deal if you present it to them that way. it really IS a good opportunity to buy christmas gifts!

None of them lol! No one buys merch @my store :'(
Posted by: 12 Days of Nothing | December 10, 2011 at 10:57 PM
We barely sold any of the Cranberry Bliss, which is saying a lot considering we had samples all day long at register and were telling people it was half off. I think the Cranberry Bliss Bar has passed it's peak... hopefully it won't be back next year. It just isn't actually any good.
Posted by: morningbecomes | December 11, 2011 at 03:51 AM
Yeah, the cranberry bliss bars are crap. My manager keeps ordering massive shipments of them and no one buys them. A few days ago we had to throw out 14 boxes at the end of the night, after going through 8 boxes of samples. I don't understand his logic. Oh. And for the tumblers, my store only has two (and I want one).
Posted by: Ian | December 11, 2011 at 04:58 AM
Yes,the bliss bars aren't selling well at all. They used to fly out of here. I don't eat them so I hadn't realized that the formula was different this year. Also, does anyone remember the polar bear cookies from last year? They were in the pastry case and they were hot hot sellers. This year we have a snowman cookie pop on the floor jammed in with all the other merchandise. They are not visible and are not available for an impulse purchase at the POS. I think Sbux. missed a huge opportunity to increase those ticket averages this year.

Our store has about 15 of the free refills in January tumbler but we have had at least twice that many customers asking about it. I mean $20 for 31 grande coffees and a tumbler, great deal.

My store manager is forcing us to take lunches when we are working shifts shorter than 6.25 hours. Is that allowed?
Posted by: HoustanBarista | December 11, 2011 at 10:39 AM
My store requires lunches if you work past 5 hours.
Posted by: LongJon | December 11, 2011 at 02:20 PM
Are you in California?
Posted by: HoustanBarista | December 11, 2011 at 02:32 PM
AZ, over 6 hours must take lunch.
Posted by: Petie | December 11, 2011 at 07:20 PM
gingerbread loaf...what happened? The frosting is like elmer's glue and the flavor seems really different than the past years- cranberry bliss bars are not that good either- bummer for this season's goodies, hope next year there is some new and delicious treats!

lol @ starbucks conspiracy!
Posted by: Chris Curtis | December 11, 2011 at 09:46 PM
I think besides the Christmas Blend $9.95 deal, the biggest hit we have had was Sunday's 2/$12 holiday mug. I almost bought 2 myself. I think I sold 20 yesterday in 6 hours being on the front register.
Posted by: Barista Man | December 12, 2011 at 03:46 AM
We sold tons of the cranberry bliss bars and have all season. If you have a stinky attitude about what you are selling, guess what? It won't sell. It's pretty simple. The bliss bars are different, but they are not crap. Your attitude is though.
As for the deals, apart from the bliss bars and Christmas roast they are just lame this year. It's like they want people to believe the deals are as good as the last two years and hope no one notices. Things are still selling, but really starbucks? Fail.
