My neighborhood Starbucks store is quite busy on early Thanksgiving Day afternoon. (Many people treat the holiday like it's just another day, according to this excellent NPR.org story.)

Has anyone seen the new Starbucks commercial where the baristas end up flying a customer's mother out to visit him? This commercial makes me so angry! Are we seriously expected to buy plane tickets for customers' family members now? On our HUGE Starbucks salaries? The whole commercial is just completely unrealistic and just kind of rude to baristas who are actually great at their job.

The commercial should have been of the Barista's family having Thanksgiving or Christmas without her because she was scheduled to work.

Are we really supposed to believe that that really happened? Did it? I don't believe it.
