One manager explains why Starbucks is a good place for interviews: "It's more comfortable for everyone. It's a neutral space, more of a shared experience than a lopsided one where a person is sitting in your waiting room and then your office."

That makes some sense. It's a neutral ground for both employer and candidate. Also, since it's a pretty casual place, the employer might get to see the candidate behaving more casually, which could prove good...or bad, depending on what's done or said.
