Anchorage has nearly three coffee shops per 10,000 people, followed by the Seattle-Bellevue-Everett, Wash. region, which has 2.5 shops, and San Francisco, which has 2.2 coffee outlets for every 10,000 consumers. New York has less than one coffee shop per 10,000 people, though it has the fourth-highest number of shops at 525. (Investors.com)
The funny thing about this is, most of them are little mom & pop mobile jobbies on the corners at busy intersections, and they are EVERYwhere.

Damn, that's really surprising. I thought for sure that Seattle with being considered the home of the coffee shop would take the cake on that one. At least most of the shops there are mom and pop places instead of *$

After spending a year in Anchorage, I can testify that either it's so dark all the time you need that joe to keep you going or it's so bright all the time you need it to help you after a night of insomnia.
Plus, Anchorage has one of the best coffee-roasting outfits — Kaladi Bros. — in the world.

When I lived in Anchorage, there were these little drive-thru cappuccino shops on every corner. It gets pretty cold in the winter and you needed it to help you with the chill but by summer time, you're so addicted you keep going back anyway. The comment about the sleepy winters and the insomnia summers is right on too! I don't doubt Anchorage has the most per capita even a little. It's a small city people-wise and a fairly large area wise so you have more room to toss the shops around.

Falls Church, VA, has eight STARBUCKS per 10,000 people, which is easy to figure out becuase there are 10,000 people in Falls Church, and there are 8 Starbucks in the city

How about Corvallis, OR which has 20 coffee shops for a city of 50,000? That should be in the ranking. That's 4 coffee shops per 10,000. That's also not counting the 2 or 3 that are on campus.

Can anyone tell me how many cups of coffee are sold (on average) at an average Starbucks each day. And how many per day for the whole chain?
Is there anyplace where these kind of statistics live?
Thanks
