Which celebrities have you spotted in your Starbucks store?
Cityrag website guesses Starbucks has received over $100 million in free advertising from photos of celebs holding Starbucks drinks. Have you spotted the Olsen twins (or any other celebs) in your store? Details, please. (Cityrags.blogs.com)
...katie holmes and chris klein used to come in often to my little neighborhood store in Southern California (before they broke up)...now I work at a mall starbucks as we have seen sandra bullock, nicholas cage, michael keaton, hillary duff, robert englund, kobe bryant - and some others I can't remember....

When I said that Tom Cavanagh glowed in the dark, I meant he definitely looked striking, but not because he was trying. He is very tall, with jet-black hair and bright blue eyes. His wife is also very tall, with fair, blonde hair. They are conspicuous because they are better-looking than most people, though not at all in a glamorous way. I don't know what he looked like on Ed, so I'm afraid I can't compare. They did not seem shy or snotty, but rather totally normal and pleasant.

Thank you cornfrost for the update! :)
All I can say from what I remember of this actor Tom Cavanagh is on Ed he was really clean cut (short hair and all). Do you see them a lot? I heard that Tom is a very private person, do you get that feeling when you see him and his wife?
Thank you for your updates!

Hi there cornfrost, Just one question when you said that:
"When I said that Tom Cavanagh glowed in the dark, I meant he definitely looked striking, but not because he was trying. He is very tall, with jet-black hair and bright blue eyes. His wife is also very tall, with fair, blonde hair. They are conspicuous because they are better-looking than most people, though not at all in a glamorous way."
Why do you say such. Did his wife dress in an outfit that "stands out" from "us average people" or were they dressed for some kind of dinner date?
Please do not be offended here but I am rather confused. By this remark it sounds to me as if Tom and this Maureen are "trying" to look like they stepped out of "In-Style" magazine!
Posted by: minnie | November 19, 2005 at 08:55 PM
It seems to me that Tom C. has a kind of cult following, and people are imputing all sorts of hidden meaning onto a straightforward comment!
I meant that they are both attractive, tall and good-looking. I do not understand how this is a confusing statement. When I have seen them, they were not doing a thing to stand out. They quietly waited in line like everyone else. I did not write anything about what they were wearing. They may have been wearing sweatshirts and jeans. Frankly, I don't remember because their clothing was utterly nondescript.
Posted by: cornfrost | November 20, 2005 at 06:59 PM
I read that Tom Cavanagh is very maintenance that could be why these people think that Tom stands out!!!
Posted by: | November 21, 2005 at 07:54 AM
Cornfrost,
I think Minnie was just wondering because Tom Cavanagh heard that it takes him twenty minutes to do his hair and that is why she was curious why he stuck out. I don't understand also because one is tall makes them good looking. That shouldn't matter

It is a little known secret that on the Warner Brothers Studio lot, there is a company store with a Starbucks/Jamba Juice/Ben&Jerrys inside. I had the distinct pleasure of working there from January of '03 until June of the same year. Let me tell you, there were a plethora of famous people there at any given time. I personally saw the entire cast of the Drew Carey Show, Everybody Loves Raymond, Seth Green, Sandra Bullock (she was the executive producer of the George Lopez show, which they taped at WB), George Lopez, Noah Wiley from ER, a couple of other cast members from ER whose names I don't know, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Clint Eastwood. George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh share a production company that has it;s residence on the lot. But, the creme de la creme was not a celebrity, although in my book, he is. I made friends with one of the special effect/art directors during the filming of the Matrix:Revolutions, and bless him forever, he took me and my friend Jen on a tour of the soundstage to see those big robot fighter things they had during the battle scene in Zion. That was one of the highlights of my life, needless to say.

Starbucks in Chatt. TN.
Dude, we saw Vanilla Ice, or now as he likes to be called Rob Van Winkle.
He ordered a vanilla latte. I snorted.

does anyone know what that red drink is that everyone seems to drink at SB...its like iced and red in color
Posted by: kelly | December 01, 2005 at 05:08 PM
Two red drinks I can think of. Blended strawberry lemonade and strawberries and cream fraps. The right amount of raspberry syrup in a white mocha could be red.

If you are wondering about Tom Cavanagh skeet then you will have to see him here:
"Love Monkey" stars Thomas Cavanagh, Judy Greer, and Jason Preistley, and utilized New York City locations including The Chelsea Hotel, CBGB’s, Arlene’s Grocery, The Tribeca Grand Hotel, Tribeca Park, Tompkins Square Park, The Gansevoort Hotel, and Times Square. The production employed some 100 New Yorkers.

I saw a M.I.B. at the -Address blacked out-
location. Oddly enough, the above ordered an
empty venti cup and headed strait for the
bathrooms. Minutes after handed the recepticle
to the barrista on duty and called out loud
'One yellow froth with heavy mocha' and exited
the premises promptly...

DC gets more big names than you could possibly imagine: Nicole Kidman, Rudy Giuliani, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Beyonce, Dave Chapelle, Ben Stein, Robin Williams, Matthew Broderick, Alan Ruck, Nathan Lane (The Producers ran at the Kennedy Center and we were their favourite Starbucks), Montel Williams (who got some sort of rasbperry soy white mocha thinking it was more complicated than it was and left us $11 and $14 tips... amazing), Sandra Bullock, Minnie Driver (who asked one my partners, "Young man, are you high?"), Christian from Road Rules, Nelly, Patrick Stewart, the guy who played Charlotte's second husband on Sex and the City
Lots of politicians (clearly): the Secretary of Commerce is one of our regulars, he gets a triple grande skim slightly wet cappuccino; the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff came in and I didn't recognize him until after I called my random assortment of Starbucks pins my "decorations" but told him his were better.
But my all time favourite was the big man himself, Howard Schultz, who stayed in the Ritz behind us for a week and visited us every day. We talked about health care for about half an hour, it was pretty awesome.

I work in a very remote location in Killeen Texas, where almost always nothing happens, with the exception of military action. (Troops from our military post, Fort Hood, are the ones who caught Sadaam Hussein in Iraq.)Anyhow, about 2 weeks ago, we had Eric Estrada from CHIPS in our store. He was a pretty friendly guy, guarded by a Texas State Trooper. I was working drive thru, so I don't know what he ordered from the cafe`. And I don't know what he was doing in town, but he made sure to come see us. Left a five buck tip, which is better than most in this area. Merry Christmas to all partners out there around the world!!!!

I'm not a barista, just a customer, but I saw George Tenet, former director of the CIA; stood in line just in front of him.

We got LeeAnn Rimes and Reese Witherspoon (+kids and personal assistant, but no hot hubby) yesterday and today. Matthew Lesko, the guy who wears those question-mark suits from all those crazy "Get the Government's grant money!" commercials, is one of our regulars, about monthly i'd say
Posted by: DCBARISTA | February 07, 2006 at 08:58 PM
Yeah, so I get really excited about celebs, and end up saying the stupidest things. Today, I was on bar and I call a grande almond soy latte and then realize that Reese Witherspoon is at the handoff. I nearly shat myself and then said, "Oh, Ms. Witherspoon, if I had known that was yours I would have made it REALLY good." WTF!?!?!? Knights of Columbus, why did I say that??? Then I asked her for her autograph on a cup I had remarked as what she was drinking (this is what i do for all the SBUX autographs I get), and she said yes...but I think she only did b/c I was still making her kids hot chocolate. She was really nice, though.
Also, I've made a grande skim cappucinno for Nicole Kidman, a triple grande skim wet cappucinno for Sec. of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez, a grande skim latte for Chris Matthews, and something for Matthew Lesko(??? Guy).
My store is basically the coolest...ever.

I am sure it is triple blended and full of air. Anyone who puts a kid on her lap and drives off has to be an airhead.

A local newscaster comes through the drive thru
Ha ha ha that's what I get for working in the boring midwest :)

I can tell you that by the look of Britney Spears cups they are either caramel or white mocha. Plus she totally looks like a white mocha or xtra caramel frappuccino kind of girl. Any barista knows what I mean! haha
I work in Sacramento and we have had Bobby Lee who is funny as hell! Also Britney came in a few years back when she actually still worked.

In Chicago: Ben Stein (teacher from Ferris Bueller), Tony Hawk, Shaquille O'Neal, Scott Glynn, Rod Stewart, Steven King, Hersey Hawkins, The acrobat guy from Ocean's Eleven.
NYC: Bob Costas, Dan Marino, Rene Zellweger, Sean McMahon, Ricky Martin, Jerome Bettis, Anderson Cooper.
True story: Kerry Wood used to come into the store at Clark & Hubbard in Chicago. He stopped coming in because one of the baristas wouldn't stop giving him pitching advice.

Hey there! I don't work at a Sbux (yet) but as much as I stop and get coffee there, I might as well get a job there. I'm sure I'd be happier working there than in my current job neway! LOL My question is: Has anyone seen Ricky Martin frequent any one Sbux store? I'd love to run into him in a Sbux. He and I get the same thing, 4 shot Venti Vanilla Latte, nonfat, sugar free (well, I haven't made it to sugar free yet). I'm a huge Ricky fan, and would love some info on where he's spotted most. Thx!! :)
