Advertising Age reports today (no link available) that Starbucks is planning to test-market special Starbucks cups filled with Kellogg low-fat granola, ready for steamed milk or special add-ins (including caramel sauce). Anyone have more information on this SBUX/Kellogg offering?
I could tell you....but then I would have to kill you.

Not for my tastes, but I hope it does well for them.

Excellent idea, this seems perfect for them to be able to offer a more healthy breakfast without having to become certified in food prep.

Fantastic! As Starbucks is the only coffee shop near my work, I often find myself scarfing down a breakfast cookie or muffin. I've thought before how much I'd rather have some cereal.

Why did you edit my post?
Go look up Carmel, http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=carmel
It's a city, a ridge, a town, a circumsised lamb, a harvest and an ear of corn but not a sauce.
You seem to be into proper word usage and I wasn't trying to be snippy.

Ha, I spelled circumcised wrong. Although spelling and word usage aren't exactly the same, I feel sheepish now.

It will be very interesting to see how this done. I mean have they even thought of if partners are going to mark this stuff out. I want to know if we can have a pajama day and just work in those. That would be so funny. HEHEHEHEHE.

Ain't nuthin' new with Starbucks selling Granola. In the 90s, Starbucks sold little plastic bowls of Granola. (Not sure when the company stopped selling the containers of granola though.) The only thing new is partnering with a major consumer packaged goods company to "brand" it.
If Starbucks was looking for a "best-in-class" Granola to put in their cups ... they should look to La Brea Bakery. They make a fantastic Granola and La Brea's CEO is a former SBUX executive.

I'm down for whatever.

It's because caramel is spelled carAmel, not carmel. That's why your search returned that. Also, there have been quite a few pajama days in Sbux history. The brewing sale last year for example ("brew your coffee at home" theory, we all wore pajamas).

Starbucks can accomplish anything. Cereal, Lunch, or whatever. If the shut down today and reopened on Monday and sold televisions Sony would go out of business. You have to remember, its not the product, its the people!!! It happens to be a great product but that is just the icing on the cake.

My store is one of the test markets for this. 4 different types of cereal. Put in tall cups with steamed milk. Modify like you would a regular drink...including shots.
They are pretty good but don't stay crunchy long enough for my taste. But if you like oatmeal...kind of similar after it's sat for a bit.

How much farther could we be from our whole bean roots in Pike Place than cereal? I really hope that the company looks at the mission statement and states how cereal maintains establishing starbucks as the premier purveyor of coffee in the world. Hmmm...

Katie,
Offering more in the product line-up isn't hurting the beans. They aren't pulling people out of the Coffee Procurement department and telling them to focus on granola. In order to stay competitive, we have to be willing to try new things.

Cereal from Starbucks? I expect this to vie the best breakfast rush since Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs.

I eaten cereal at starbucks every morning. I've done it for years. Glad they are going to sell the cereal now though, having the baristas store my Vector was probably getting on their nerves.

Nice info.

Great idea. We should have something healthy in the store for once...would it be too much to ask to have sugar-free, high fiber cereal?

Funny I said that years ago, and so did you guys I see... Looks like starbucks never really realized this dream, maybe its because they were too busy trying to buy a crappy pink berry chain. Should just get one thing right 1st, marketing guys over there at starbucks.
