Kofe Hauz, Russia’s leading chain of coffee houses, isn't afraid of the new rival. "The brand of Starbucks is largely unknown in Russia, so they’d better not to hope to win the market right away," says Vladislav Dudakov, president of Kofe Hauz. (Kommersant Moscow)
In Soviet Russia, Starbucks opens you!

I personally think it's cool that we are going to a new country and would be interested in seeing how they stores would look there. I have heard they are different in other countries. One example told to me was that in China they look different on the outside and aren't green. Anyone know if it's true or not?

speaking for someone who has lived in a communist country. the communist frame of mind dis so embedded in a people that long after the iron curtain fell life is still quite "communist". i for one am overjoyed to see a company run like starbucks open in russia. it starts one buisness at a time.

For the most part, the Starbuck in other countries are dressed the same as stores in US, albeit the possibility of the addition of some in-country language.
Go to Google and click on images, and enter "startbucks, shanghai", and you'll see evidence.

Starbucks, you gotta expand around Russia! Move east, Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Krasnoyarsk (of course including the central markets, such as Moscow and St.Petersburg). The thing is the pacific regions are located close to China, Japan and Developing markets in general. For example, those people go to China and Japan on a regular basis, so you guys gotta consider something like Vladivosotk, for instance. Another thing with Vladivostok is that the government and businesses invest lots of money to that region due to the future ASEAN summit to be hosted in there. Good luck!

Bran starbucks is hugely unknow in Russian market and the of drinking coffe in Russia it is way different form USA style, so I think that starbucks managers should not underesteemate rivals in Russian market
