Still, sales rose as the customers who did visit spent more. An analyst notes that books, musical albums, sandwiches and salads don't bring new Starbucks customers, but they do induce customers into spending more. (Associated Press)
> Someone remind Howard Schultz about "Akeelah and the Bee": The Starbucks chairman says the success of the book "A Long Way Gone" by a former child soldier "demonstrates the unique power we have in the marketplace ... when we get behind something." That "power" didn't work for "Akeelah"....or Joe magazine.
No increase in visitors? Wow, I had no idea yuppies were a finite resource. Best news I've heard all day.

No more Starbucks for me!!
Recently Marines in Iraq wrote to Starbucks because they wanted to let them know how much they liked their coffees and to request that they send some of it to the troops there.
Starbucks repliled, telling the Marines thank you for their support of their business, but that Starbucks does not support the war or anyone in it, and that they would not send the troops their brand of coffee.
So as not to offend Starbucks, maybe we should notsupport themm by buying any of their products........
