Extra TV has just come out with a list of celebs' favorite Starbucks drinks, which is largely based on fairly old STARBUCKS GOSSIP posts. Here's your third opportunity (we did this in 2005 and early 2007) to tell us about the famous people you've seen at Starbucks and what they ordered. || ExtraTV.com: Order Starbucks Like a Celeb!
I used to serve Ted Koppel a double-tall mocha at the Georgetown "M" Street Starbucks in Washington DC

Jon Stewart from the Daily Show came in and I didn't have a clue who he was and asked for the name on the cup and then I asked which variant spelling he wanted. He looked at me like I was from Mars. The next day he came in again and again I asked for the name, this time using "Jon" and spelling. He then realized from the blank look on my face that I was really oblivious to who he was and somebody 18-25 didn't watch Comedy Central.
The next customer who was a regular asked me if I knew who he was asked me if I knew who that was and I said with a shrug of the shoulders, "He said his name was Jon."
I also met the DJ Tracy Young from Miami. She's very pretty and was with her assistant and I blurted out you're the pretty DJ from last night!
But we should all treat our customers like celebrities.

That Lady Who Played Jean Grey - Bone Dry Cappucino and will throw a fit, hands in tha air and everthing and leave the store in a childish huff, if a new barista does not make her drink dry enough.
Pink - I think it was a Nonfat Chai, but I'm not sure. She was super nice and also threatened the man she was with if he didn't let her pay for everything.
Sarah Michelle Gellar - Iced Venti Nonfat Chai/Grande Soy Chai. SMG is the nicest Starbucks customer one could ever hope to meet. She lived around the store and knew baristas names and have conversations with them. Tips very very well.
Matthew Broderick - I can't remember his order either but he was weird and stand off-ish. I told him I was a fan of him and Sarah Jessica Parker and he said Thank You in a "I don't want to be recognized" way.
Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls Mom)- Grande Nonfat Cappucino. She has good days and bad days where she will be the nicest TV mom and then turn into SuperBitch the next day.
LL Cool J - Some Frappucino. Signs autographs for partners. "Stay focused, LL Cool J"
Kristin Chenoweth - Nonfat Latte. I was noticabley flustered when I rang her up and she signed her autograph for me. She was very humble and was glad I was a fan. I LOVE HER!
Julia Stiles - Soy Soy Soy Soy Soy Latte. She couldn't say the word "Soy" enough. It was kind of aggrivating but she was down to earth and has since become a store-wide joke because of her soy obsession. We call her Julia "Soy" Stiles.
Vanessa Carlton - Doppio Espresso with 1 SITR. She very quiet and reserved. One of my partners asked her out on a date and she said she would go out with him after she checked her scheduale. She has yet to return.

Tony Danza came in and got a Venti Refresh tea, wasn't feeling too well before a Vegas performance of The Producers, extremely nice, tipped $20 and offered the partners tickets to the show.
We got several UFC guys in, don't remember their names, one of them was on the Dr. Drew show. They all ordered Frappuccinos and were a pain to serve.

John McCain was stumping in our city, and his posse came into our store. When I told them that I admired him because my daddy is a Vietnam Vet, they asked if I would like to meet him. I said "YEAH!" only because he's famous.
I was surrounded by his people and escorted to a van in the parking lot to meet him. He was super nice, told me to tell my dad how much he appreciates his sacrifice to our country, and was introduced to his wife. She was botoxed and tv make-uped within an inch of her life and had a frozen smile on her face. She may have been really sad that day, but you'd never know.
A few weeks later, two men came to the register and asked if I was a coffee master. When I told them I was almost done with my certification (I thought they were from corporate so I pretty much forgot everything I'd learned), one of them started asking me a bunch of random questions about coffee, like where does the word "coffee" come from? Where were the original beans smuggled in from? When I didn't know the answers, he looked at his friend and said "Hm. Looks like SOMEONE needs to work a little harder during her training." He was the rudest customer I've ever had.
A minute later as I was making their drinks (and calling them names in my head) I asked them where they were from and one of them whispered "We're with the OBAMA campaign", like he woud be rushed for autographs and baby kisses if someone heard him. Without thinking, I said "WOW!! I got to meet JOHN MCCAIN the other day and he was SO NICE!! I so love that man!!"
The look on their faces were priceless; the beauty of it all was that I didn't even connect the fact that my comment would "offend"... I was just namedropping that I'd gotten to meet someone famous.
BTW, I met McCain the morning that a pit bull attacked one of our customers in the store parking lot.
It was the best. day. at work. ever.

Wow... up here in the Seattle area, we never get any big celebrities. Well, scratch that, Howard himself does visit some stores in the area on occasion, but I've never seen him (or anyone else remotely famous). Maybe I should move to LA... :D

Mischa Barton was recently in Australia for Fashion week, she would come into my store and always get a Venti Lite Soy Chai.
