Extra TV has just come out with a list of celebs' favorite Starbucks drinks, which is largely based on fairly old STARBUCKS GOSSIP posts. Here's your third opportunity (we did this in 2005 and early 2007) to tell us about the famous people you've seen at Starbucks and what they ordered. || ExtraTV.com: Order Starbucks Like a Celeb!
don francisco, the host of the univision variety show sabado gigante orders a tall latte and acts like a regular guy. sometimes get an egg salad sandwich. tips the change.

Lil Wayne shot a video a block down the street from my store a few months ago and a couple assistants came to order 10 lattes, 10, cappuccinos, and 10 mochas. Not sure which one Weezy drank though.
Also, there was only 2 of us working at the time, the store was relatively busy, and they didn't tip a single dime.

lance armstrong spent the afternoon in the bryn mawr, pa starbucks last christmas eve. he drank a venti drip (and got a refill before leaving). unfortunately, there weren't any sheryl crow tunes left on the in-store mp3 player at the time
Posted by: ex asm | August 17, 2008 at 04:24 PM
Christopher Titus came into my store. He ordered two OMBB's with extra protein powder.
One of my newer baristas messed up on another drink he ordered and he didn't seem to happy about it. I was able to fix the problem, but I still felt like he thought we were incompetent. I'm sure he didn't feel that way, but I thought he did.

Derek Jeter came in to our store a week ago and ordered a double tall non-fat latte.
Posted by: SoCalBarista | August 17, 2008 at 04:49 PM
Dave Navarro orders a Venti Black-Eye.
Mary Kate Olsen ordered a Quad Venti Soy Latte on Christmas Day.
Wentworth Miller always orders a Java Chip Frappuccino and a Wild Sweet Orange Brewed Tea when he comes through my store, which is on a weekly basis. Perhaps he's afraid of being noticed, because his cups always are marked "Miller" or "Sam", but little does he know that a majority of my baristas and customers aren't swayed by his appearance.
Rose McGowan ordered a Tall unsweetened Iced Coffee while I was covering a shift over at the Larchmont location. She was probably visiting Spirituali, her and a friend have a cute line of table purse caddies that sell there.
Posted by: Preggo | August 17, 2008 at 04:50 PM
The Rev. Al Sharpton came into our store several months back...he came in alone, ordered a venti skinny vanilla latte, checked messages on his Blackberry, waited in line like a regular joe and was nice to customers who asked if he was who they thought he was.
Posted by: ICLover | August 17, 2008 at 05:48 PM
I have a question for everyone. When a celeb comes into your store do you still ask for their name to mark the cup or do you just write it on there?
Posted by: Cali ASM | August 17, 2008 at 05:54 PM
cali asm,
depends on how nice they are.
if they are rude, i always ask their name, just to see them squirm when someone "doesn't know who they are!" lol...
or, it is fun to put their "perez Hilton" nick name... we put Princess RiRi on Rihanna's once.

Robin Williams comes into my store from time to time and gets a doppio espresso.
Posted by: KJ | August 17, 2008 at 08:14 PM
Renee Zellweger ordered a half caf pumpkin spice latte at my store. Daryl Hannah ordered organic milk for her drink. Jackie Mason orders something different (but something plain) each time. I can't remember what Bruce Willis ordered because I was too busy thinking what a rude wanker he was. (I didn't recognize him.)
Posted by: drive | August 17, 2008 at 08:37 PM
Flava Flav got a bottled Mocha Frappuccino from the RTD case.
Posted by: Kate | August 17, 2008 at 10:01 PM
i would always ask! :)
Posted by: lattewizard | August 17, 2008 at 10:02 PM
Jon Stewart came into my store a few times and I didn't have aclue who he was. Denis Leary gets an iced venti 2p Cl iced coffee. That lady from the Devil wears Prada got a sugar free vanilla soy latte. Oh yeah, the director of the FBI came in and got a sf vanilla nonfat chai
Posted by: Boston Stsrbucks Rebel | August 17, 2008 at 10:27 PM
Tony Hawk got a bottle of Ethos.
Posted by: Sill | August 17, 2008 at 10:41 PM
Brad Garrett has visited my rural store at least two times and one of those times got a grande latte. I think it was regular lowfat
Posted by: Anony | August 17, 2008 at 11:13 PM
@ICLover:
Not to sound racist or anything, but it is kinda funny knowing Reverend Al gets a Skinny Vanilla Latte.
Posted by: Edgar Estima | August 17, 2008 at 11:39 PM
Is it bad I don't know at least half the people you call celebrities??? I probably wouldn't even recognize the faces, heck, I don't even recognize their names.
Anyways, I was told once I had just served an american supermodel whose name I forgot again. Of course I noticed she was extremely good looking, but didn't know she was famous until she left and everyone started whispering about how cool it was having her in our little neighborhood starbucks.
Well, I guess nothing compares to LA or NY.
But at least we are going to get some fresh celebrities into town during the film fest next month. Maybe I can post something useful afterward.

All these people span my 5+ years with Starbucks. Most when I worked in Pasadena.
Dr. Drew Pinsky (Loveline) - Tall Cappuccino, very polite, very nice, gave a little smile when I fumbled over repeating his drink when I realized who he was.
David Lee Roth - I think he used to just get drip coffee, but I do know he came in right when we opened, 4:30am.
Martin Sheen - A friend was opening and he helped her pull in the newspapers before ordering a drip coffee.
Cress Williams (Bailey's husband from Grey's Anatomy) - Used to come in daily. I think he got a Mocha Valencia no whip. Very cool, great smile, and would chit-chat for a minute when he picked up his drink.
Beverly Archer (Mama's Family, also comedy writer) - Always came in the mornings and split a Venti coffee with her husband, and she never asked us for a second cup to pour it in, they actually just shared it. Very nice woman.
Jonathon Taylor Thomas (Middle kid from Home Improvement, but this was way after that show) - Forgot his drink, but he was quiet and would hang out on our patio for awhile.

@ Lu,
well...okay that's nothing to do about a celebrity, but regardless, was the bin green? Don't know about in pennsylvania, but here in Victoria BC (Canada), that's our donation bin, so don't worry, we donate everything without meat.
Back to celebs, Pam Anderson ordered a grande vanilla latte at a store I worked at in Vancouver
Posted by: Victoria Barista | August 18, 2008 at 12:28 AM
Danielle Fishel gets a tall skinny carmel latte
Posted by: Kyle | August 18, 2008 at 12:57 AM
Pauly Shore ordered a Triple Iced Grande Soy Latte at the register. Then walked over to me at the bar and repeated his order like it was super complicated or something.
I didn't recognize him at first but as soon as I saw him I thought of the line "wheeze the juice" and it took a second for it to click as to why I thought of that line.
I almost wrote "Buddy" as his name on the cup. I should have.

We get a lot of celebrities visiting Vancouver Island British Columbia Canada. Most recently Victor Kratz (Olympic metal winner for pairs ice skating) rolled through and purchased an orange mango banana blend, singer Biff Naked enjoys a grande soy latte (she's soo tiny in person, and let her dogs poop on the grass by our store), Dianna Krall a grande chai and her husband Elvis Costello a tall cappuccino (who always orders and picks up for both), Pam Anderson has strolled through and ordered a latte or two in her day (a customer in line called a local radio station and announced the Starbucks sighting and all day long we had customers come through asking if she was there still...), and plenty more. It's funny to see them line up with the masses, we see them soo often on the red carpet and think they have that treatment everywhere they go, it's nice to know we all treat our customers the same way, we just get that extra little twinkle in our eye when it's someone famous. Plus it's awesome to tell your friends, "you will never guess who I made a grande soy chai for today...!"

For any San Jose Sharks fans, Mike Ricci comes in occasionally and orders a decaf tall nonfat vanilla latte, and usually gets a pack of madelines for his little daughter (cute as can be! Wish I could say the same for her father... =p ). Tim Hunter (assistant coach) came in once, and he got a tall nonfat latte.
And though I've never seen him there, Jeremey Roenick comes in usually to pick his son up after he walks over from school.

Back in the day I've taken orders/made drinks for
Tony Bennett (great guy, ordered a cappucino)
Christopher Titus (also very cool, was working on some wiring on his old wood panel wagon in the front lot)
Apparantely Paris Hilton also came into one of the stores I worked at, but I got off shift a couple hours earlier.
Big kicker is that every single shop I worked at where I ran into these people is on the shut down list.

@Edgar: I loved that it was skinny. He has lost weight over the years. And it was neat that he paid with an Sbux card, a Christmas one.
Re: donations, we do save pastries for a few local churches. A number of us really like that the stuff's not going to waste. And it's a nice way to connect with members of the local community.
Posted by: ICLover | August 18, 2008 at 06:57 AM
Aw...Roger Staubach came into my Dallas store but I can't remember what he ordered. Emmitt Smith's wife also would come by earrrrrly sometimes.
Darn. I should have remembered those orders.
Posted by: AG | August 18, 2008 at 08:35 AM
Lisa Loeb ordered a Cappuccino. She did a CD signing at the Barnes & Noble I worked at over the summer. She was really nice too, but she didn't sing Stay.
Posted by: Topher | August 18, 2008 at 09:51 AM
Lu, I feel like you're going a bit overboard on your "boycott Starbucks" advice, based on the plymouth meeting store discarding their outdated pastries. Many Starbucks donate their leftover pastries, but then again, many don't. If you feel that Starbucks should donate the marked out pastries to the people affected by the Conshi apartment fire, talk to the manager and suggest it.
Posted by: peaches | August 18, 2008 at 10:24 AM
lacey chabert - iced decaf venti nonfat latte
Oh man...I wish we could get women that hot in my store...
Anyways, Roger Clemens orders a Venti Earl Grey and Venti no-whip Caramel Frap
Jeff Bagwell gets a tall nonfat latte and tall awake.
Posted by: Will | August 18, 2008 at 10:31 AM
Elderly biographer Ellis Amburn orders a decaf tall nonfat latte (aka a 'why bother') and a new york times almost every day.
yeah... we don't get a lot of celebrities in my old neck of the woods. Best part is, most of Ellis' books are out of print
Posted by: flbarista | August 18, 2008 at 10:49 AM
tiger woods has come into my store a few times (never when i was there). simple order, rude, wouldn't tip. maybe he's stressed because he's only in town for a golf tournament. his wife, i've heard, is a peach.
phillip seymoure hoffman frequents my store and he orders a quad tall americano no room.
Posted by: rochester_ny | August 18, 2008 at 10:49 AM
Parker posey gets just drip coffee and is super nice.
Molly ringwald got a cappucino
Corey feldman got a chai frap and a green tea frap, I thought it was funny that his wife made him get out of the car to get the drinks.
Colin farrel was incredibly humble and nice.
Micahel battaluco (sp?) from the practice came in regularly, always seemed to buy a cd.
And where I am now...
Matt skiba from the alkaline trio gets a triple grande vanilla soy latte.
I would imagine celebrities like coming to starbucks. You go into a indie shop and you are, say, patton oswalt, they are gonna at least gush about you, and at worst harrass you for a signed picture or something. They know if they go to the starbucks, we are trained to treat them like anyone else. If anything we might make a comment on the down low.

I made some drinks for Oprah's "people" once, lots of skinny lattes but I don't think they were really for her.
Posted by: atownsbuxrules | August 18, 2008 at 11:34 AM
the only semi-famous people i've recognized at my sbux is the band "of montreal" they were playing a show at my school and they came through the dt the evening of the show and were kind of rude they got: a tall soy chai, a tall bc, tall ic, tall gtf. the next day they came back in on their way out of town and got the same drinks but were way nicer and recognized me from the day before and asked me if i liked the show. and thought that i had traded the set list i had caught at the show with a friend was really funny.
Posted by: mapunx | August 18, 2008 at 12:00 PM
Valerie Bertinelli and her son Wolfie came in. I don't remember her drink, but Wolfie got a Venti Vanilla Creme Frappucino
Posted by: One day at a time | August 18, 2008 at 01:45 PM
Speaking of Wentworth Miller, Wade Williams, of Prison Break fame, frequented my store during the first season, and would routinely get a half-caf grande drip, super nice and laid back, would sometimes have a script in hand and could be seen practicing his lines in the cafe, another actor, whose name escapes me now, also from Prison Break, the Big Lebowski, and those VW commercials would always come in with a gorgeous blonde and order just a sausage breakfast sandwich with ketchup.
Posted by: northsidechiblackapron | August 18, 2008 at 01:47 PM
Kevin Garnett used to get a venti coffee when he was in MN.
Posted by: KanakaKope | August 18, 2008 at 01:50 PM
Also at Bryn Mawr - Luke Wilson (while filming "Tenure") would get a Grande unsweetened Iced Coffee.
I warmly remember spending the days around the XMas holiday with ex asm, laughing about putting Sheryl Crow on while Lance was there. One of the few nice memories from a series of holidays spent trapped in that store.

Molly Ringwald: Venti toffee nut cappuccino
Posted by: SixteenthAndCurtis | August 18, 2008 at 02:23 PM
Martha Stewart ordered an Iced tall nonfat cappuccino here in Rochester NY while she was in town filming a segment for her show. In Starbucks "Just Say Yes" fashion we, gladly made her beverage.
Posted by: Shawn | August 18, 2008 at 02:35 PM
Hillary Duff (with her two bodyguards) came into our store once. They ordered 2 Double Short Soy Lattes, and 2 Iced Double Tall Soy Lattes. Hillary didn't speak nor order; she just stood and watched...
Posted by: aceofspades | August 18, 2008 at 02:36 PM
brad paisley would always order a venti green tea frappucino.
tobey maguire, a doppio espresso.
Posted by: alexis | August 18, 2008 at 04:40 PM
I must be getting old.
I don't recognize most of the celeb names posted above.
Posted by: Torontodude | August 18, 2008 at 05:16 PM
Chuck Norris (lol) came into my old store once and ordered a regular iced tea. Tipped us $20 and he was super nice. I'm not a republican or Chuck Norris fan but he was really really cool and he even signed a napkin for a kid on the way out. Erykah Badu (sp?) used to come into another old store of mine and order regular drip and she used to sneak in and out real quick in the morning, real nice too.
Posted by: Brad | August 18, 2008 at 05:36 PM
RE: martha stewart's drink, we do indeed have iced cappuccinos... check out the beverage recipe guide... its shots and milk to the bottom of the logo, ice to the top of the logo and foam the rest of the way up...

When I had worked at the store in brentwood, tennessee we would get many different country music folk coming in...tim mcgraw, joDee messina. keith urban, the van zant brothers, jessica andrews and her boyfriend marcel, a couple of the guys from emerson drive, troy gentry from montgomery gentry, and some christian acts as well. a couple of the dc talk guys came in...lance bass from nsync came in...kimberley willams paisley did as well and of course my favorite of all of them to come in was Donna Summer. She came in incognito...but i recognized her right away. The one person i seemed to engage in conversation with most was the lovely JoDee messina. I would do music trivia questions and she would try to guess the answers. What a sweetheart... And now I am in a store in New England where i havent noticed a single famous person. And ya know what I am glad. Everyday people are my favorite kinda people.

For the baseball fans, Joe Nathan, one of the top pitchers in the country, of the Minnesota Twins came to my store. He ordered a grande vanilla bean creme frappiccino and a banana loaf. He was really rude. Drove up and on his cell phone, wouldn't even acknowledge me, and no tip of course. I also found it weird that an athlete was having such a fattening non-caffeinated bev.
Posted by: :) | August 18, 2008 at 06:43 PM
Not all athletes are rude.
Hall of fame hockey player Ron Francis comes in from time to time and gets a grande non-fat latte and sometimes a RF cinn swirl cc. Bill Cowher's wife (I think I remember her name to be Cathy) got a venti non-fat latte. They were both super-nice.
Ethan Hawke came in a store I used to work at and acted really messed up. He took someone else's drink (a grande mocha) because he thought it was his tall latte. Assumption was that he was stoned... he could just be really weird.
