Extra TV has just come out with a list of celebs' favorite Starbucks drinks, which is largely based on fairly old STARBUCKS GOSSIP posts. Here's your third opportunity (we did this in 2005 and early 2007) to tell us about the famous people you've seen at Starbucks and what they ordered. || ExtraTV.com: Order Starbucks Like a Celeb!
Ben Affleck came in on 2 separate occasions and ordered a grande vanilla skim latte.
Mr. Bentley from The Jeffersons and the dad from Alf came in together. I think they were doing a play together in Cambridge, MA. Mr. Bentley (Paul Benedict) paid for the drinks of the 5 or 6 customers that were behind him in line.

well I am suprised to hear these celebs are not big tippers. what a turn off. Most of us regular Joes do tip, how about some celebrity treatment when we come in? lol, ok, kidding.

I personally waited on Kevin Spacey last year when he was in Boston filming 21. A Venti Vanilla Latte was his order, left a five dollar tip, and was really cool when we asked if he was Kevin Spacey. A shift in my store had thrown him out the week before because he brought his dog inside.
Is it true that George Lucas gets mad if you make any type of eye contact with him while you wait on him?? If so, what a douche!!!

Bill Clinton drinks a tall nonfat cappuccino.
Barack Obama drinks a tall black coffee.
Both very nice guys -- although they were campaigning at the time, so go figure. I live in Iowa, politicians are the biggest celebrities we get here.
Brandon Flowers of the Killers drinks a chocolate soy milk. He ordered it 3 days in a row and hung out in the cafe (with the rest of the band) during a layover in their tour.
Posted by: erstwhile | August 18, 2008 at 09:18 PM
omg I would die if I waited on Kevin Spacey. I'd probably have to run in the backroom and gasp.

taylor swift threw a drink back in the drive thru window because it was made wrong...

@ :) -
we baseball players have a reputation for being the most unhealthy athletes. in fact, many people doubt that we (especially pitchers) are athletes at all. hahaha...but i've never seen anyone famous in any of my stores. i would love to work in LA, but it'd be a 40 mile roundtrip commute, and that wouldn't be worth it.
Posted by: barista lane | August 18, 2008 at 10:21 PM
I can't remember what Jerry Springer and his wife ordered, but he didn't really seem to know much about the drinks.
Clinton Kelly (from What Not to Wear) ordered a grande latte and a sugar cookie. :)
Posted by: harmaa | August 18, 2008 at 10:37 PM
Howie Day came into my store on my third day of training, he's really tall. im pretty sure he got a venti chai
Posted by: Keri Wilson | August 18, 2008 at 10:39 PM
Roger Clemens got a caramel frap and a slice of lemon pound cake at my old store. Tipped well and was very nice.
And Bobby Flay got a tall latte.

100% Kona I know who you ate and you probably know who I am. JoeTori came into my store and got a caramel macchiato. Dave Matthews has been known to frequent Lower Newbury.

"Brandon Flowers of the Killers drinks a chocolate soy milk. He ordered it 3 days in a row and hung out in the cafe (with the rest of the band) during a layover in their tour"
Confirming this one. They're from Vegas and this has been his drink for a long time. Either that or a soy hot chocolate.

As the former manager of the Bucks Sunset Strip, I have a unique perspective on celebrity. I have hidden Renee Zelleweger under the counter from the papparatzi. I have shielded Ben Affleck and calmed down Mr. Pacino because we were out of Madelines (it was like something out of the godfather. Sandra Bullock was my favorite (we all called her Sandy. If the Buck Sunset is ever blew up, People Magazine would be out of business. Like many, I have since jumped ship, but I wish you all well, because you will need it.

Aww shucks! The most famous people I've ever served are Aaron Marsh from "Copeland" (Venti Coffee,) and Todd Bentley some crackpot Evangelist guy...

"Bill Clinton drinks a tall nonfat cappuccino."
I work at Bill Clinton's home store in Chappaqua, NY. He orders a decaf coffee in the winter and an Iced Venti Passion Iced Tea in the summer. He can't have caffeine. The cappuccino was probably for Hill.

Cameron Diaz came in to my store while shooting in Boston, and she had a Venti whole milk latte with 2 sugar in the raw. I was mildly impressed you could do that and have her figure. And she's very (very) nice, if too tan for Boston - and a good tipper.
Posted by: sue de nimes | August 19, 2008 at 03:33 PM
Michael Jordan came through my DT and ordered a grande mocha... tipped the change, lol but he paid with a $20 so we were happy xD
Posted by: pariah | August 19, 2008 at 03:40 PM
Not too big of a celebrity, but for hockey fans, it's pretty cool...
Jody Shelley of the San Jose Sharks (formerly Columbus Blue Jackets) came into my store earlier this year. Got a grande drip. Wasn't very friendly.
Posted by: jessSBUXlsm | August 19, 2008 at 05:06 PM
Cameron Diaz was filming a movie in Boston and stayed at the hotel around the corner from my store. She came in every day (including Thanksgiving!) and ordered a grande single shot whole milk 2 Sugar in the Raw latte. She was friendly and tipped well!

***Dan Lauria - The Father who plays Jack Arnold from the "Wonder Years" comes by and gets a Grande Black Coffee! =P

Crewton - we either worked in the same store... or very near one another.

I'll never forget my first day at sbux. I was working at the 47th and bway store in nYC and had to be in at 5am, while walking to work I noticed all these trailors that said HAIR MAKE UP etc. when I turned the corner onto bway the whole cast of sex and the city were filming for Fleet Week! It was awesome! I stood with my face pressed against the glass of the store for 30 min watching SJP do her shoot. I loved that show. I have also waited on Kevin Spacey, Madonna, Jon Bon Jovi, Mick Jagger, Hillary Swank, Peter Gallagher, Seqourney Weaver, Spike Lee, Jackie from Roseanne (forget her name) Roger Clemmens, and my all time favorite Robert Deniro. I almost couldn't speak on that one. He is larger than life to me.
Posted by: Darleen | August 20, 2008 at 07:06 AM
i've only personally seen local celebrities and unknown has-beens.
if any of you are from vegas, franks sorrentino orders 4 drinks: a venti mocha, a venti coffee with cream, a venti decaf with cream, a venti awake, and always asks if we have any of that "blueberry cake". he is such a fun dude.
also, jason rooney, of jason rooney on the drive home on mix 94.1 stops by every day on his way to the station and orders an iced grande nonfat stirred caramel macchiatto.
Posted by: Kelly | August 20, 2008 at 10:56 AM
The Queens of the Stone Age (band) came into our store last year. Extremely polite and nice, all ordered either iced coffees or espresso shots.
The funny part was they had all climbed out of a taxi when they pulled up, hung out in the lobby while they finished their drinks, and then piled right back in. ;)

Travis Barker - Grande Soy Chai when he came to MI for concert and an autograph signing....
Posted by: Barista | August 20, 2008 at 05:24 PM
JessBUXism:
Yeah Jody Shelley wasn't exactly brought onto the Sharks for his rosey personality ;)
I work at an SBUX in Los Gatos, CA and I've seen Jonathan Cheechoo (San Jose Sharks), Mike Ricci (San Jose Sharks), Teemu Selanne (Anaheim Ducks), and Owen Nolan (Calgary Flames)
Posted by: lgbarista | August 20, 2008 at 05:31 PM
Arnold Schwarzenegger (sp?) orders a doppio decaf macchiato. He comes into my store by the San Diego airport almost monthly, takes pictures with people and is very friendly.
Posted by: KelleySD | August 20, 2008 at 08:24 PM
Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhal came in and got the same drink - an iced tall no whip mocha. reese paid - which makes sense.
they were quiet, but nice.

Let's focus on true celebrities here people:
Patrick Stewart
Avery Brooks
William Shatner
Kate Mulgrew
Scott Bakula
If someone can confirm or deny whether Stewart drinks Tea, Earl Gray, hot... that would be awesome.
Posted by: CowRat | August 21, 2008 at 12:12 AM
Since when is Scott Bakula a "true celebrity"? Oh well, to each his own I guess....
Posted by: Darleen | August 21, 2008 at 07:53 AM
Last summer Tim Robbins came into my store...he and Susan Sarandon were in Portsmouth NH for Hillary Clintons campaign, he was the only one in the store at the time, ordered an iced grande black eye, and stayed and chatted for a bit...very very nice, and very very TALL!
Posted by: former bux | August 21, 2008 at 09:00 AM
Darleen, they all played captains on various "Star Trek" shows :-)
Posted by: former manager | August 21, 2008 at 10:48 AM
thanks former manager, I guess you can see my star trek knowledge is minimal at best...
Posted by: Darleen | August 21, 2008 at 11:08 AM
Alec Baldwin: Iced Venti Sugar free vanilla americanos. and the frequent breaking of hundred dollar bills.

Captain Janeway, enjoyed her coffee black. I'm thinking she would enjoy a cup of Italian Roast.
Posted by: BOSTON STARBUCKS REBEL | August 21, 2008 at 03:14 PM
Agent Scully getting pissed off at another customer for bugging her is my celebrity highlight... followed by daily visits from Eddie Vedder and Dave Matthews.
Posted by: Pat Nerr | August 21, 2008 at 05:46 PM
Love Eddie Vedder and Dave Matthews! Saw Pearl Jam years ago at a place in Va. beach. Sorry to hear of the loss of Dave's band member. I may not know Star Trek, but I know my music!
Posted by: Darleen | August 21, 2008 at 06:04 PM
we're all just 2 shots away from going to that big dirty coffee urn in the sky...
... or under grounds...

I don't know about you but I'm going to a garden with a multitude of Sirens/virgins who will give me all my delights.

When Dakota Fanning was in town (and a few years younger), she would come in with her mother, her agent and sometimes her little sis Elle. What adorable children! They would get plain pound cake to eat for breakfast the next day.
Posted by: cornfrost | August 21, 2008 at 10:55 PM
Wilford Brimley once came in to buy 5 lbs. of french roast- don't remember his drink, but was going to suggest something sugar-free, because of the diabetes!
William H. Macy came in and asked our register partner if we carried sandwiches (we don't). She was so starstruck she replied, "Yes. I mean, No."
Ted Nugent came in, and i forget what he ordered, but when the bar partner asked if he'd wanted nonfat, he answered, "The only thing i like nonfat is my women!"

Okay, call me a geek but I am a huge fan of the Today show. I know Ann Curry is a big Starbucks fan-she even confessed on air that she was loyal to Starbucks when asked to do a coffee tasting! Anyone spot the rest of the Today show host in stores?
When I first started with *$'s, my store was next to a local radio station. Sometimes the bands would come and get bevs. Most were nice, but honestly the only one I really remember is making a Grande (this was before we had venti!) bone dry cap for Tori Amos-she is very short and a snot.
Posted by: | August 23, 2008 at 02:42 PM
Ashlee Simpson and her homeboy (Pete Wentz) ordered vanilla soy lattes. Pete was super nice. Desmond Mason (NBA player) gets a venti Awake tea. Chris 'Birdman' Andersen (NBA player) gets a venti coffee. Wayne Coyne from the Flaming Lips gets pounds of coffee, usually Sumatra. He's nuts, and loves life. Ben Folds likes grande lattes. That lady that played Jean Grey in X-Men likes her some iced soy lattes.
Some people who I work with are probably reading this and laughing.
If Michael Jordan ever pulled up in a drive-thru, I would immediately combust.

Davey Havok of AFI drinks a venti 4-pump soy chai
Brett Gurewitz of Bad Religion drinks a single grande 5 pump soy chai
Posted by: Afakaz | August 24, 2008 at 10:06 PM
I once made a venti hazelnut latte that was allegedly for Michael Bolton right before his show. That's how he gets that deep, phlegm coated singing voice apparently.
