Rex Huppke writes in his "humor" piece: "Clearly, this is a time for citizens to rally for a cause greater than themselves. To come to the aid of a once-great corporation that simplified our morning coffee choice by thanklessly driving thousands of locally owned cafes out of business. Every American, the rich (Where did they go?) and the poor (Oh, that's where) should donate money this year to Starbucks. In exchange for coffee. I have already gone the extra mile by halting my routine theft of Splenda packets." ||
Read "Brother, can you spare (buying) a double latte?"
Oh now that's just silly.

For years the snobs(upper mgmt) at Starbucks had recession proof attitudes. They Laughed ALL the way to the bank w/ their rediculous prices for a cup of coffee. In these trying times, Americans have come to realize that you can get a VERY good cup of Joe at a reasonable price. Starbucks will never be able to return to the days of "yesteryear". No sympathy here for the greedy. Unfortunately they had to learn the hard way.

I will gladly donate all my options to Starbucks to help this beloved icon regain its financial footing.

Hmmm ... we donate our day-old pastries to the local Meals-On-Wheels, so in the spirit of this article we could suggest our customers donate to the needy by NOT buying our pastries ... but I don't think that strategy would do much for Starbucks :(

Pikes Place coffee now taste like the Starbucks "Burned Beans". When Pikes was introduced it had a mild, normal taste.
Why is SBUX changing Pikes taste ??? Are too many people buying one $1.65 cup and then taking up a table for hours ? That is, SBUX is their "Office" for the day.
When I invite most folks to SBUX, they say they don't like Starbucks coffee, it taste is too harsh, too bitter, burned, etc. ... Maybe SBUX really wants to sell the $4.00+ items.
O.K. but SBUX is driving the regular coffee drinkers away .. to McDs', Dunkin, WaWa, the local Coffee Houses...
I've observed that the regular coffee folks are more likely to buy the cookies, the donuts, the sandwiches, etc.
Given the economy and the expected length of this recession, SBUX will find it harder to sell the expensive, high profit drinks.

Starbucks pastries are sooo unhealthy! they need more healthy products instead of shoving down super high sugar and high calorie items to customers! Don't you guys hate fulfilling the venti frappuccinos for people who are obviously overweight? Those drinks are slowly killing adding pounds to these people potentially giving them cancer!
