The one that's now on the block is a five-year-old Challenger 604 by Bombardier that seats 10.

Papi Howie-
U know what you should give the plains to the Baristas...Make a new benefit where we get one free trip somewhere. I will take it to Mexico, YEA!!
On the real though, it's to bad the company waisted all that money with total disregard to it's staff and product.

It's hard to unrob a bank. Nice try!
Posted by: snagger | March 06, 2009 at 08:49 PM
When it sells, perhaps they could fill it with upper management and sell them along with the plane.
Posted by: Ex Bux Pgh | March 06, 2009 at 09:59 PM
They'd get more money for the plane without the management included.
Posted by: TNT | March 06, 2009 at 10:17 PM
Funny how they don't want it to be tracked anymore. Maybe someone felt a bit embarrassed about being caught in Hawaii dining with celebrities.

Does that mean that King Howard has to now fly (GASP!!!).COMMERCIAL........I doubt it he will probably use Maquis jet.

There is no open threat yet, so I just post it here, maybe Jim can move it later.
I just realized Starbucks even screws up their facebook advertisements. This is what I just found next to my profile:
"Smooth and Balanced
Introducing Pike Place Roast, your everyday coffee, but served everyday, at your neighborhood Starbucks."
Did you notice the missing "not"?
Now they confessed, it is just an everyday coffee
HAHAHAHAHAHAH

i agree, the upper management would totally devalue the plane

The management of the corporate jet issue is just
HILARIOUS!
The string of bad decisions and reversals got SBUX more negative publicity than anyone else could possibly have gotten!CONGRATULATIONS, SBUX MANAGEMENT!

for some reason i still believe the company can be turned around. call my crazy, but at least news like this shows that there's a tiny ounce of common sense up there. good luck actually selling it, though.
Posted by: CamSpi | March 08, 2009 at 03:09 PM
Amen, CamSpi. I too believe that the corporation still has the ability to change and grow for the better! I also was impressed with Howard Schultz's voluntary decision to take a reduction in salary.
I don't get what this really means though: If all 3 jets are sold, does this mean that he's really going to fly commercial? It seems like what they're saying is that if we get one sold, we'll pull one off the market so that we still have one for the executive senior management ...???
Posted by: Melody | March 08, 2009 at 03:21 PM
Let's sell the management and keep the airplanes. It wouldn't make as much money but it might fix the company.

Isn't the stockholder meeting coming up soon? Ummmm.....
Posted by: lattegal | March 08, 2009 at 05:15 PM
impressed with a salary cut? it is only a slight of hand move, he makes more in other benifits and raw cash salary is pocket change. I am sure he increased his options to compensate for salary plus expense report and other benifits I am certainly sure he still makes more in a week than an average manager makes in a year. Do not be so naive.

The jet thing and the recent employee layoffs (who just happened to be dedicated assistant managers) was the end for me. I no longer give Starbucks my money.
Posted by: GearUp | March 09, 2009 at 10:28 AM
Sigh...I understand the sentiment, GearUp. But that also hurts all of us baristas, most whom are still trying to work hard and provide quality service. What with the economy the way it is, most all of us have seen hours drop, tips drop, personal days evaporate.
Posted by: NorCalBlend | March 09, 2009 at 02:08 PM
GearUp and NorCalBlend:
I hear and understand both your comments. As a long time partner I joined the company back when things were wounderful (at least they appeared that way). They suck now. Managment has done everything wrong to screw this company up and the innocent retail partners have to pay the price. Us retail partners have done nothing wrong.
I loved working here. Now I'm just waiting for the economy to turn around so I can get out. I used to pe proud to be a partner. Now I don't wear my Starbucks logo shirts and coat anymore. I really don't want to be a part of such a foul company.
But while waiting to leave, my tips are down, my personal days are gone, my hours are cut, my SIP and 401k has changed, and my DM is more controling, micro managing, demanding, and unrealistic than ever before. It is all the result of horrible managment and a bad economy.
If I was a customer I wouldn't want to support a company that has made so many hurtful and horrific decisions either. As a partner I hope customers keep coming in so I have a job. How's that for a catch 22.

Has anyone considered the possibility that Howard was meeting with Obama in Hawaii?
Posted by: slip | March 09, 2009 at 03:27 PM
Oh, that's a great idea! Maybe Howard could help Obama fix the economy. Doesn't this nation have problems enough?
Posted by: ?ing | March 09, 2009 at 04:51 PM
Maybe it was the other way around.
Posted by: slip | March 09, 2009 at 06:35 PM
Heh. Yeah. I'm with you TNT. Once proud, now just waiting to bolt.
