I love it. The last time we did this, the SM came in and bagged / labeled most of the patries. It was fast, easy and fun.

This is supposed to be surprise and delight and you ruin it by announcing it, plus you cause us to run out of free pastries much too soon by advertising it.

Registered card holders just got an email about it. Word's out much faster this year.

Bill - The info on the portal encourages telling customers and spreading the word.

Bill, blamed Starbucks for "ruining" it, too; they tweeted it to their hundreds of thousands of followers.

I wanted to make a comment about a recent stop to a certain starbucks in laplata, Md. I drive through this area about once a month, I work at a starbucks in Richmond, va. I would like to remind every partner of one very basic bar skill: shots are only good for 10 seconds and only water and milk hold shots. I always order an iced venti vanilla soy latte. The shots are always bitter because I watch them pull 3 shots into the vanilla without any soy milk to hold them, and then they don't refridgerate their soy, so after pouring warm soy milk way past the second green line, they add half inch of ice, hardly making my drink cool. I am always very dissappointed in this store's quality of drinks, but it is the only way in the area. Please remind partners of the proper way to pull shots!!!

Bill -
If it was "surprise and delight" what's the point of making a coupon and asking customers to bring it in to receive their free pastry? Starbucks themselves is advertising, so obviously people are supposed to know about it...

Do I get a free pastry if I order a brewed coffee?
The coupon says "hancrafted beverage" but a Starbucks manager says you can order a brewed coffee too.

@ Bill:
I don't understand your criticism on this one. What's the point of having a "promotion" if you don't promote it?

@SBUX Alum Bill,
Yes, for World Aids Day we said it was for hand crafted beverages that the donation goes through, and that included drip coffee.

Does the free pastry include everything in the display case (donuts, muffins, etc.) or does it only include pastries?
Posted by: SBUX Customer | March 19, 2010 at 10:01 AM
Ignore my two posts above. Just saw where the fine print indicates what pastries can be ordered and that you can ordered a brewed beverage.

Any customers reading this,
Pastries you can order include: croissants, muffins, bagels, breads, pound cakes, scones, rolls, doughnuts, coffee cakes, morning bun, and cheese danish.
You can also order a brewed coffee to receive a free pastry.

All I know is that the store I frequent the partners each took a bag home of pastries....there were piles of undistributed items.

Ilike chocolate cake...# Easy-to-make chocolate cake mix.
# Bakes into a moist, delicious chocolate cake.
# Just stir together eggs, oil, water & mix, then bake.
# Layer and frost, or simply sprinkle with confectioners' sugar if desired.

Anyone doing a social network must realize that they are in the media business and NOT the technology business. Think of yourself as a magazine. What's important in a magazine? Is it a really easy to use table of contents?
