G. Pascal Zachary, who believes he might be a homo starbucticus, writes: "That coffee drinking is an addiction, not simply a popular habit, may explain why Starbucks and other peddlers of gourmet cups actually spend time and expense increasing the amount of caffeine in each cup of coffee they serve. ...So if you mind being a slave to coffee (or Starbucks), kick the habit." I like to put decaf in all my drinks. It helps people break their addiction to coffee, well maybe not but oh well. Decaf, good, regular, bad!

Starbucks is totally addictive! If I don't have my daily dose of Starbucks, I get a major caffeine-withdrawal headache! Sad, I know!

I kicked the coffee habit 7 years ago while battling influenza. I drink decaf almost every day but don't notice it if I miss it.
I do enjoy a recreational *$ on occasion, no more than 1 or 2 a month.
That decaf tastes sooooo good though.

Why would they offer "decafe" if they wanted to addict you. Think a little more before you type! Besides, your addicted to speaking without thinking so why not go with it.

Even though I may drink up to 28 coffees while out visiting new stores, I only drink 1-2 8 oz cups in my regular life. I had to cut back from all the espresso I was drinking some 7-8 years ago because I was having heart palpitations.

Note to SAVEMART SLAVE: You're quick to correct other people (two messages up), but let me correct you: It's YOU'RE addicted, not "your addicted."

I have to say I'm addicted to Starbucks coffee,so is my three year old Jack Russell Chloe. We have our coffee in bed every morning,my cup and her five finger decaf coffee. She loves it!! She jumps up on the bed sets straight up on my lap and grawls, not a happy dog until she gets her first five finger cup of starbucks decaf. The next dog we get were naming it "Starbucks." Yours Truly, Five finger decaf.

Not just a nation, maybe even a generation? or a world? I'm visiting Taipei, and Starbucks shops are everywhere. The Starbucks craze is so strong that people have opened imitation Starbucks and gourmet espresso shops around the city.

You should be careful with that dog of yours, he might have health problems and get heart palpataions.

Haven't seen a comment posted in awhile. I am doing an article on Panera vs Starbucks... any opinions on the subject?
Posted by: zurigirl | December 27, 2005 at 03:40 PM
why? are they comparable?

I'm doing a speech on Starbucks and our country's, even our world's, addiction to it. i see it as a must have icon, not just a popular drink. Soccer mom's always have their starbucks in hand on the saturday morning games, and teenagers stroll into class balancing their books in one hand and their coffe in the other. it's simple, carrying a starbucks grande is a cool thing to do... it's in. Any comments?

Panera is no comparison to Starbucks. They are a bakery that sells coffee. Starbucks is a coffee house that sells some baked goods. However, I like Paneras IC Caramels better than Starbucks Frappuccinos. They just taste better.
And yes, to Liza, I think Starbucks is a status symbol.

i think there's more too it than just caffeine...i like it way more than other brands and it's not just the advertising...it's how i feel after having one...anyone else agree?

Starbucks decaf is addictive since most of it sold contains as much caffiene as regular espresso! As much as 97 mg per 5 oz. cup as opposed to the 1-5 mg. limit decaf is supposed to have!
So if you really want decaf, don't get it at Starbucks!!

A question for STARBUCKS addicts who know the menu well?
what is a machiatto/mociatto or whatever that is. some ppl mentioned those in my last question. and what does it mean to have 2 shots of espresso in a frappuccino? are there any other drinks that aren't on the menu that you can ask for at any starbucks? AND...what are ppl saying about where starbucks money goes to?
